One would not even consider me a novice hynotist at this point, but I've read enough and am interested enough in the subject to have decided to attend live training.
As I am here in central FL, I chose to attend Jerry Kein's live training in DeLand, FL in March 2006 at the Omni Training Center.
My question is this: how do you know what other kind of training to pursue at this point? I am not interested in any particular specialty at this point. Does one just attent the 7 day training, get a basic understanding of the art of hypnosis and then plan their next move based on this initial training?
I do not know what other kind of training to plan on besides the week long training at Omni. When just starting out, how did all of you professionals know what kind of training was required? I don't want to spend too much money in the beginning on specialties that may not be of interest to me later.

Hello Rebecca, You have made a fine choice. I have trained more than five thousand hypnotherapists in thirty years. I operated the nation's largest Hypnotherapy Training Institue in Los Angeles until I moved to London. Jerry Kein trained with me many years ago.He is one of America's finest teachers. This can be very rewarding career and has been for many.
Tell Mr. Kein that you want to learn the basics of hypnosis/hypnotherapy first and later you can decide if you want to specialize. When you enter practice ready to deal with the varied issues that clients present you will learn far more than your initial training can teach you. Hi rebecca
you need to look at doing at least "400" hours training, a 7 day training will give to a taste, yet if you want to get really good, then 400 class room hours, in both classical, and ericksonian based training will set you up really well. don't fool your self, or let anyone take your money, till you have done your reaseach, if you know where to look you can get lots of free, pdfs, etc. so you can get a really good grounding. learn all styles of hypnosis, and love them all, that way you can work, with anyone. and have a skill base that will work to your advantage even more.

You can't go wrong with Kein's training...he is indeed one of the finest teachers as Mr. Boyne said. After you've attended, you'll know you made the right choice :-) |
