I have noticed particullarly on another board I visit, that questions by annonymous posters are frequently posed in a very poor manner, either by thoughtlessness, or the inability to formulate in a proper manner, understandable by all readers.
As an example, one question was, "can a person be sued for a statement made on a board, by someone claiming that the statement damaged their reputation"?
Notice that to begin with, the question did not contain the word "successfully", so the replies were indeed varied, and included the "yes" ones, which thankfully included "if you don't mind being laughed at, and paying high court costs"....
Secondly, since this is an open board, it was noted that the poster was annonymous, leading to the idea that they were ensuring that they couldn't be sued because they were untracable, but in fact might well be wondering if they could profit from suing the owners. The answer to that of course is "NO" you can't hold board owners responsible for statements made without their consent or aproval... In fact, it is my opinion that they could only be sued successfully if they endorsed an untrue statement, and this could be proved....
