Hi,
I have recently become interested in hypnosis and have been listening to self-hypnosis mp3's. I am not sure if I am getting the correct effect.
I find myself getting very relaxed during induction and my body is very heavy and is slightly numb, its feel good. Basically like a deep meditative state. However I am still fully conscious and hear everything.
So far triggers placed under trance haven't seemed to have a massive effect. And I haven't really experienced sensations suggested during trance. Is it something you can get better at overtime etc? Should you be getting an immediate effect or is it more cumulative?
Stage hypnosis seems to have a dramatic "sleep" mode and "waking" mode, and the results are very clear to. Is this possible with self-hypnosis?
Thanks

Hello nferr.
First off, it a mp3, and not a live 1-2-1 session. so your mp3 can't make the shifts, that a person can. i.e. it can't change it's staments to fit, with whats going on with you at that time.
What ever you are feeling at anytime it's just that, if you feel relaxed, go with that, if you feel light then, go along with that. etc, etc.
Also just remember, if you need to move to get more relaxed just do that.
"I am still fully conscious and hear everything" That's a good thing, it means that your alive. and well.
Hypnotic triggers, cos it's an audio mp3, then the suggestions are fixed, this can some times slow the effects, because the suggestions are what somebody else as made on your behalf, so your other than conscious mind, is just doing it's bit to make sure that there are rigt for you.
Depennding on how good the hynosis sessions are that you are listening too, then the ideas will just blend in to your way of being, and you might never really notice your change untill, somebody points it out, like "hello "Nefee" you seem a lots more relaxed, happy confident. etc.
Theres Know real right way, or wrong way, to do and or feel hypnosis. having spent the last 11 years researching and learning about this stuff. your'll get just what your best self needs.

If it has consciousness it's already in a trance. |

Matrixman has said it all, you got what you paid for, and it is very valuable to be able to relax, but for more specific effects, you do indeed need a live practitioner to help you. Anthony |

Thanks for your help on this. I definitely intend to see a professional hypnotist but I will have to wait until I have some spare cash, which may be a month, or so.
In the mean time I plan to make my own self-hypnosis tapes as I have heard personalized recordings are much more effective.
A common problem is that I don't stick to anything long enough and I could see myself finding excuses to stop listening to my tapes after a month or so. Is it a crazy idea to build the suggestion to listen to the tapes into the actual script?
Also Paul Mckenna seems to have simultaneous overlapping voices in his tapes. It really seemed to work with me. Perhaps I could do the same thing with mine.

Lots of things MIGHT work for YOU, but who knows until you try them. Go for it, and see what happens, you have little to lose except time, and might gain much for the time expended....Anthony |

Ask the Professional to help you learn to do self-hypnosis. It can be very easy to do once you have been given the suggestion while you are hypnotized. For example; I give clients the suggestion that anytime they hold their thumb and index finger together, close their eyes and count: three, two, one, then they will become as relaxed as they are "right now" and be able to give themselves helpful suggestions. This works great and can save you a lot of time "getting to the relaxed state." |
