Could you please tell me if there are hypnosis methods which use conscious focus without allowing the unconsous mind (in trance) to effect changes in ones body? I ask this because i am not comfortable with the idea of being in a trance.

You minght what to look to somthing called Autogebgic Training, via a book by Dr Kai Kermani ISBN 0285 62974 3 (CaseBound) ISBN 0285 63322 8 (paperback) or you minght try NLP and look at www.nlpu.com or www.neurosemantics.com or you might like to try EFT/ emotional freedom technique at www.emofree.com read some of the many articles and case studies, then down lode the free manual, that will give you the heads up on. on most anything.

The answer to your question is "No". Hypnosis is hypnosis, not something else, and it is used to program the subconcious not the concious mind. Now tell us, what does it feel like to have the unconcious mind in a trance? I ask because I strongly suspect you have never experienced this, and are in fear based on illogical rumours, not facts...anthony |

Well, if there's anything you don't like in trance you'll just pop out of it again, like someone turning the hot tap on downstairs and making the shower go icy!
I'm beginning to realise we spend most of the day in a very light trance. Every time you get lost in a book or absorbed in a film you're in a fairly deep trance. It's a perfectly natural and self-controled state.
Change doesn't absolutely need trance, it just makes it a lot easier to achieve.
