Hi there I have suffered from insomnia for 10-12yrs now - I sleep for 4-6 hrs on a good night with the aid of a sleeping pill. I am interested in hypnosis and looking further into this to address my issue. Can you help ? Appreciate any advice or chatting on this topic Gidget |

What was going on in your life when this began?
Do you have trouble falling asleep or just staying asleep?
Do you sleep alone or with someone?

My exhusband and I are friends ... have been now for some years ... My sleep patterns are shocking though, and I understand this is a terrible habit I have managed to get into, and have been in this horrible rut now for years ... heard about your site and am keen to try whatever may work. Thank you for your prompt reply Patrick Gidget |

So the sleep trouble started when you were emotionally stressed? Do you sleep any better when not alone?
On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being high and 1 low) where would you put your average emotional stress? |

I suppose so ... yes I was probably emotionally stressed ... No I don't sleep better when not alone ... I certainly don't look forward to going to bed! I have really only slept beside my 6yr old son and the sleep pattern is no different ... I would put my average emotional stress level at say 3-4 ... |

What's going on when you're working to fall asleep? Is your mind active? Physical discomfort? Worried about not falling asleep? |

In answer to your last post - my mind is really not that active when I am working to fall asleep - a lot have asked me this question ... I have no physical discomfort ... I probably do worry about being unable to fall asleep, and if I have no sleeping pill I can literally remember every hour .. and next day feel like I've been hit by a train until say, mid afternoon. Although my body has become used to the non sleep side of things ... I am fit, healthy, don't smoke, drink only socially... shouldn't be that hard really eh? ! |

I am 49 and have pretty much popped out the other side of Menopause by the way ... only had mild symptoms ... But I must make mention that my memory is very average too .. esp short term ... So yes, I had my son when I was 43, bit later, and the sleep patterns weren't favourable back when he was young thats for sure. Been separated for 3yrs now ... |

So, it's sounding like it should be fairly simple then. Let us know how it goes! |

Hi again Patrick I had my appointment today - Hypnotherapist was very attentive but I don't know really what I gained from the visit. I will will practice her "Sensory Relaxation" and change my habits / routine until my next visit next week. I was hoping for some real hypnosis but no luck today with her. Gidget |

we had a general chat about my daily habits and my routine before bed. Then I moved seats into her hypnotherapy chair and she started her sensory relaxation with me where she spoke softly for an hour trying to hpynotise me without any luck (me lying there with my eyes closed and just focusing on her voice and what she was saying) Very relaxing but nothing more really. Told me to be in touch more with my 5yr old sub conscious child and think positively re sleep ... She then gave me a sheet with habits to change and things to do before bed, charged me $110 and told me I would need another session next week. I had a terrible night with next to no sleep and am now wondering if next week will be any different ... Interested to hear your thoughts Patrick ... Thank you for the feedback here. Susie (Gidget) |

Susie,
She is using suggestion based techniques in a live session. I just talked to a client about that less than an hour ago. I told my client I would feel guilty charging someone for me to simply spew suggestions for an hour.
On top of of she was limited to using relaxation techniques for the induction, which does not always do it for people. Relaxation techniques for an induction doesn't work for me.
And didn't seem to use any "convincers" to check your depth or show you if you experienced hypnosis...
So you leave unsure of what you paid for and skeptical of results, which would further undermine the potential of any results you MAY have had.
These issues are her responsibility to address during your session.
Susie, if you put forth the effort to go to my website and email me directly, I'll send you some stuff to test. Different techniques may help you more notably achieve hypnosis and we can see if that can help you see some results.
