Since I was about 16, every so often I would wake up after a night's rest, but only in my head. I was conscious, but i couldn't move my body, open my eyes, or even talk. In this sort of in between state, i felt like I had to shut my eyes really hard or something like that to shock myself out of whatever i was in.
Fast forward to this afternoon; I was using a self-hypnosis mp3. The first round, I was relaxed, but i didn't feel all that different, so I tried it again, but instead of lying down on my back, i listened to it as if i were going to bed.
Before I knew it, i was in this wonderful stage of relaxation, really deep, but the same thing had happened, i was awake in my head, but my body wouldn't move. (although i felt like i could kick my left leg.) Anyway, the whole "shock myself out of it" thing from before, didn't work. i kept trying but to know avail. Finally I was able to knock myself back to reality, but i was so tired, i fell right back into what ever i was in, and had to jerk myself out of it again. The interesting part is the audio file said I would feel refreshed afterwards, and let me tell you, I jumped out of bed like a gangbuster and my vision was like it had never been, like a perfect HDTV...more crystal clear than ever. I have no idea what to make of this. |

Do you have your sense of touch during these?
What you describe could be a form of an Esdaile state?
Do you have trouble emerging along with the mp3?

Hi
One things that happens when we are asleep is a chemical is released into the body- to stop us moving around and falling out of bed and hurting other we maybe sleeping with-
When we go in to deep relaxation the same chemical is released- and it feels just like you are describing- body asleep mind awake- and is related to hypnagogic state- where we are half awake and half asleep.
If it is some thing you want to work around I suggest drinking a coffee or a soda about 15 minutes before you do a session.

If it has consciousness it's already in a trance. |

From what I remember, my roommate came into my room and said something, I tried to talk, but it seemed more like i could hear inside my head. Also, I could just barely open my eyes.
As far as the audio is concerned, Ithe instructed said if you ever want to wake up, count "1,2,3,4,5...wide awake!" and i remember saying "wake up" instead. The whole coma state sounds spot on, im just worried whether its normal or not. |

It's not common, but it's 'normal'. I believe it would be a matter of training yourself for less depth, if that is your desire.

That started to happen to me a few months ago. After some research on the internet, I found this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis It might not be related to hypnosis. It's like I wake up, but my body doesn't. |

Why not use it to your advantage? Use this state to reinforce all the suggestions of the session, and then write your own internal script to bring yourself out.
Because you know you currently can't move, you can be reassured that your subconscious is making whatever changes are needed to make this change a part of you. You will discover you will regain full use of your body only as fast as this current condition will fade making these changes even more permanent. As you now regain the movement in just your left foot, you know that the rest of your body will move as these changes are taking affect.
Or whatever works for you. Perfect opportunity for some Ericksonian patter. |
