I have a run coming up pretty soon, I would like to use self-hypnosis to increase my cardiovascular endurance so that I can really push myself beyond what I otherwise could. I want to do this through suggestion but I need some advice on what to say, how ot go about it and if this is even possible from the get go. |
Thanks And God Bless |

Hi
I don't think thats a good idea- as by pushing yourself beyond your limits- could have a negative effect of your health and maybe even your life- if you want to increase your cardiovascular endurance- you need to train harder- practice running with a backpack with some extra weight in it- thats one idea- also run on empty- this means doing a run when you have not had any food for at least 12 hours- both ideas will help you push your endurance.

If it has consciousness it's already in a trance. |

Hello,
You may want to contact a Sports Hypnosis specialist. They would have already done all the research and training to get you to where you want to be as quickly as possible. They can also give you some self hypnosis instruction. I know Dr. Gwendoline Josey travels the globe doing this type of work.
I don't know where you are located but you should be able to find someone in your area. Try the HypnosisOnline Database of Hypnotherapists here or Google "Sports Hypnosis" or "Performance Hypnosis."
You may also be able to find some audio programs that may give you some beginner steps.
Hope this helps. |

I agree with Matrix that you do not want to use self-hypnosis to push yourself beyond your current physical capabilities. Of course, that is asking for injury, right?
If you mean to use self-hypnosis to boost your work-outs in order to increase your physiological cardio endurance, that's a different thing. But, like Hypnodoc said, I'd recommend going to a hypnotist experienced in this field. It will give you better results and waste less of your time with trial and error. |

Let's talk about attitude! A world class mile runner is at the starting line, feet in the blocks. On his right is a runner that has beaten his best time on two occasions. On his left is a runner who has beaten him on several occasions. What are his thoughts and what are the feelings those thoughts produce? If he even thinks about his competition, he is a loser before the starting pistol fires. He must focus on running HIS best race and beating his best time, using all the knowledge and skill his training and coaching have given him. A skilled hypnotherapist can program the ideas that create the feelings that produce a winning result. Many who post here about self-hypnosis think it just closing their eyes and talking to themselves. Wrong ! That is only self-suggestion! The main reason there is no lasting result is that almost everyone does not really accept their own suggestions. They do not believe they can do it. If they did they would be no need for hypnotherapists. We have all been conditioned to a disabelief in our ability to direct our own powers. However, we can respond to the authority of those we view as having a special power (knowledge, skill, ability) The hypnotherapist can direct ideas, beliefs and attitudes that are far more easily accepted. If you really want the result, save, beg or borrow the fee to see a skilled hypnotherapist I have taught self-hypnosis classes to more than 22,000 persons in my 54 yr. career. I have worked with a great variety of athletes including world class winners.
