Hi all
I attended a 7th Path Self-Hypnosis workshop about 5 days ago. During the workshop while we were doing the recognitions, I started to have "weird" violent abreactions...
As I sat on the chair and recited the recognitions in my mind, I would feel something pulling me back and my neck would jerk backwards and be held in that position (and it was very painful)... I felt breathless as it was as if something was choking me.
That was not the only abreaction. During practice sessions, I would also shake uncontrollable (starting from nodding front and back to outright "fits")
I spoke to my instructor because well if you were in the same situation, I'm quite sure you can feel the fear as well. Anyway he asked me not to resist and just continue to practice my recognitions. He said that my unconscious mind will protect me and will not let anything bad happen to me... in the worst case scenario... I will emerge from trance automatically.
Well I went back and continued doing my recognitions. And the abreactions these few days have been rather "interesting".
At home, I do my recognitions on my bed. Because I was not on the chair, my neck couldn't really be held back that much. Instead what happened was i would shake my head from side to side very violently.
Another interesting thing was my hands, they would start to move by themselves, one at a time. One hand would be held up automatically away from my body and start to swing widely and unnaturally... when i say unnaturally i mean in angles which would actually hurt and possibly dislocate my arm (in fact at one point i felt a sharp pain at my shoulder because of the unnaturally movement and it sort of jerked me out of trance)...
Yesterday at one point when I was doing it, I felt something like a presence near me and I emerged from trance before the timer went off... because of fear.
My instructor briefly talked about the possibility of Dark Force Entities (DFE) and Ignorant Spirits (IS) with regards to my experiences but he did not elaborate on them.
I wonder if anyone else have had similar experiences or if anyone would like to share anything (advice, making meaning out of what I'm going through etc) based on my experience.

Self-hypnosis can be helpful in many instances but it is limited. With the abreactions you mentioned, you should go to a reputable hypnotist experienced in advanced techniques.
If you were my client, I would recommend you cease the self-hypnosis. I have had clients with muscle activity while in hypnosis. Personally, I have never had to deal with it in a spiritual sense that you described. But still get resolution.
To give you any suggestions beyond this would be assuming too much.

No, that is not what I meant. I think anything is possible, but, I would first suggest an inner mental conflict that a skilled hypnotist may be able to help you with. Of course, always be smart about things and seek other professional help if it seems appropriate.
If your personal belief systems leans toward a spiritual aspect, then deal with it in that manner. It may still get you results.
I guess those are vague answers....
I work with hypnosis in a very clinical fashion. From your description, my first inclination would be to address it with advanced clinical hypnosis techniques to achieve resolution. Occasionally, clients with strong spiritual beliefs want their issues dealt with in a spiritual fashion. I do that by applying the same advanced techniques and just changing the words. Words are just symbolic and different words can mean the same thing. A "Parts" and Gestalt technique goes from being "your inner-child" to your "higher power" your "your pet rock" or whatever
Whether they are devout Christians or people with strong metaphysical beliefs - This has kept my clients happy and given them the results they are looking for. I honor their beliefs the best I can.
The actual problem can have less to do with the problem than the client's perception of the problem.

| So who was teaching this class? I am not a big fan of the guy who originated 5 path and 7 path, he seems more interested in money than anything else. |
