Hi, I'm new to this forum and to hypnosis. I have started selfhypnosis by myself but I have alot of trouble with concentration when I am sitting there I always find myself thinking about other things in a mather of seconds. I also have this problem when I have to learn for school. So I was wondering if someone knows how to help me with this specific problem?

Hi Steve
Welcome to HOL ok I think I have a few thing’s for you to use, very simple, yet very effective, concentration, or lake of it, for self-hypnosis is going to be your best friend, as we can use the natural way of how your brain flows to get you into a deeper self hypnosis state, and we can also make it so you can concentrate for your school work too.
Ok This is just a guide, a place for you to start, and I will take is as if I was doing this with you, so you might find that printing if of might be a good idea.
Ok go find your self a little quite space where you can, play along, Ho by the way, its ok for the first few times just to keep your eyes open, and then when you do this on your own, you can then close your eyes, ok.
So you should be sitting down, and be able to allow your self to, move and get relaxed, and at any time you feel the need to move, that ok, if you need to adjust your self to get more relaxed, then just do that, in anyway that suits you best.
Now I don’t know, how much you know about hypnosis, or how easy hypnosis is to learn, yet you can learn self hypnosis, in just a very short time, that allows you to make any other learning’s just so much more easier, now as your sitting there, your mind might start to think about just what’s about to happen next, and even if that thought did pop in to your mind, till I just pointed it out, it’s just a start, now we can or could start at 10 and count backwards, or we could start at 1 and count upwards to ten, yet that’s your choice, when you do this one your own, yet for now we will start at 10, so as you think of the number ten, you can hear in you mind your self saying ten, in your most relaxed tone of voice, 10 relax, now just thinking about ten, you have ten toes and ten fingers, and you can allow them to move and relax in anyway they need or want too relax even more. Then we come to 9, so you could take 9 slow deep breaths, and as you do this, know that you can play attention to any part of your body, that seems a little tense, and just allow, any and all tenseness to melt away, on the count of nine, and a gain just say in your most relaxed tone, relax.
Then we have 8 and we can just find some one spot to look at when we get to 8, and as you find your self looking at that one spot, just there, you can just as well relax even more and more still.
7 getting even more relaxed, and ready to move down deeper and deeper now, just allow your thoughts to pop in to you mind, and as you catch each one, just say relax now, thee more thought you have in this time the more relaxed and deeper relaxed you can become.
6 you might need to stretch, or move around my this point and that’s just ok to do, move in anyways, that allows you to get really comfortable, and pay attention, to all the relaxed feeling in your body, start at the top of your head, then face, shoulders, neck, chest, arms, stomach, thighs, legs and feet, just saying to each part as you move down, relax.
5 Now you can just be quite for a minute or two, and just rest in this deep state of relaxation,
4 talking to your self in just a whisper, how good it feels to be this relaxed, now tell your self just how easy it is to learn, and think about a few times when you have felt really confident.
3 getting even deeper now, just allowing your self to think about a time and a place where you felt really good about yourself.
2 now you can imagine, a door way, that feels that its just a wonderful place for you, to be, and as you open the door you can see a big comfortable chair, go and get into the chair and as you sit in that chair, in a big beautiful room, you know then when you close your eyes, in that chair then you will go into the deepest, level of self hypnosis, that is right for you, so get on the chair, and make your self even more comfortable there, now.
1 say to your self hypnosis now, as you find your self in trance now, feeling really relaxed, and calm, now its time for you to use your imagination, and just for a few short minutes, see hear and feel your self, living your life with all the new skills, and behaviours that you want in your life, see your self being really calm, and confident, motivated, and see that you can learn anything new with ease.
When you have done that just for a little while, count for 1 - 10 giving your self positive statements as you come up, into feeling a newer better stronger more positive you, as just come to be, say to your self in a strong positive voice, I am wide a wake and full, of life, fully balanced and ready to go.

HINT: Many times a search (top of any forum page - click on the search link) of the keyword (i.e.- concentration, self hypnosis, etc.) will show you many questions and answers that have already been entered. Then after you have read up a bit you can join into those discussions with more advanced questions if your answers were not already there.
