Hi All,
I'm seeing a client that is constantly suffering from Migraines. I'm
sure many of you have had experience with this issue and would love to
hear your suggestions on how to successfully treat these debilitating
head-aches. Any Migraine patter scripts would be greatly appreciated
as well.

Hello!
You definitely do not want patter scripts. This is pain that you are dealing with. The specific reason for this individual's pain symptom must be located and dealt with.
I assume that the patient has seen a medical specialist and has ruled out organic causes for the pain.
I recommend using hypnotherapy to locate and treat the specific cause of the migraine symptom.

Hi Paul,
Assuming you're either medically qualified or have a referral, I'd take an Ericksonian approach.
What I mean is, look at all the parameters of the migraine and give suggestions to alter all of them. Strength, duration, location (and many others) are all parameters that can be worked with. When the client returns see which ones have "stuck" and work more with those.
As an example, I worked with a woman with extreme migraines that lasted for days. We managed to get the migraines to drop down to about 15 minutes per episode. While she would have several during the day, the overall time she spent with a migraine was dramtically reduced.
Her doctor was not supportive however. The doctor showed the client how she still had migraines on the same number of days and therefor claimed the hypnosis didn't help! Gee, which would you rather have - an all day pain or brief periods of pain with absolute relief in between?

| The alpha state brings excellent results when dealing with migraine, and in no way imposses on the medical profession in any way, since you are not dealing with a medical problem directly..... Bring the client to alpha, while they are not in a migrain condition of course, and install a trigger so that they can enter that state instantly wnen needed. Even better, one of those sound and light units sold under the guise of helping you enter into hypnosis, though not of value for that purpose, will reduce and remove a migrain almost instantly, if set to alpha. |
