Can willingness to submit to a suggestion be effected by the authoritativeness of the command of the hypnotist? In self hypnosis, could playing both hypnotist and subject hinder my sucess, since my subconscious would just recognize my voice as my own? Should I just create tapes with text-to-voice using a very intimidating voice/accent? If not, what approach is most effective in convincing myself to submit?

Voice quality and style (maternal or paternal) matters only in regards to what will work best for the recipient of the hypnosis.
Convincing yourself to "submit" is NOT the best way to look at this.

Hi
I would like to agree with Paterick and go on to say that as a stage hypnotist, the voice only adds to the publics perception of what a hypnotist should sound like.
There are many stage hypnotists in the UK, some with annoying squeeky voices, some female hypnotists, some with strong regional accents, but they all seem to hypnotise people successfully,
The key is in the content, not the sound.

Agreeing with Patrick, just to add that when hypnotising yourself you need to think it out carefully and allow emotion to help you really feel what you are suggesting. i mean saying ' You will be successful' to yourself doesn't mean a lot but if you can experience the holistic of being successful then you fully understand what you are asking of yourself.
You are thus more likely to BE successful. |
