Hello all, first post here.
I have not looked into any form of hypnosis until last week, when I read an article about how Synesthesia was successfully induced in several participants.
Now, incase you didn't know- Synesthesia is the 'ability' to cross senses over each other, common forms mainly having people associate numbers with specific colors, as well as letters. For instance, if the letter 'A' was printed in black ink, a Synesthete will see the 'A' with a red hue, every single time. It is basically an extra ability for the brain to associate patterns and metaphors with. There are many types on Synesthesia, however the one that interests me the most is the ability to 'see' specific colors when certain musical notes are played, i.e. an F# producing a purple 'swirl' or other visual phenomena when heard.
Synesthesia has captured my attention for quite some time, but only up until recently has there been evidence suggesting that everyone potentially can have it, rather than it being a strict genetic 'mutation'. Have you ever been on the verge of drifting into sleep and all of a sudden you hear a loud noise, such as a door slam, and you see a 'jump' or a flash of color(s) appear? I think we have all experienced it to some degree, but have either brushed it off and/or forgotten about it.
(self)Hypnosis is definitely interesting to me as well, and there are articles now suggesting that one can experience Synesthesia via hypnosis.
I am writing this because I am suggesting any form of help, tips, or any other general information that others can offer me.
In a nutshell, I am guessing that I would have to induce hypnosis on myself, and first create the colors that I would like to associate with each musical note - There are a total of 12 different musical notes that would have to be associated with 12 different colors. I am also assuming that higher octaves would be a 'lighter' hue of the color for the note... for example: F# would be purple, but F# one octave higher would be a lighter shade of purple, so on and so fourth.
Why do I desire this?
Well, I have an undying love and passion for music, and learning it. I want to enhance my experience with music, and would love to have another unique way to associate music with my senses. I am also in the process of developing perfect and relative pitch with my ear, and the course im taking talks about tying colors to sounds, but only on a mind's eye level. I would like to take it to the next step. I definitely think it's possible, as some articles have suggested, and would love any help to get me there.
Thank you in advance, mefy |
