| hi everyone, iv a question regarding memory recall thru hypnosis, the procedure is prone to false memories but suppose two people go thru hypnosis for recalling the same memory and they remember the same things, would that guarantee the accurateness of those memories, or can there still be a chance that both might have recalled the same false memories? expert opinion will be much appreciated. |

| No, that would not guarantee accuracy. Memories can be created, edited and forgotten. More reliable to use hypno memory work to gain information that can be verified, or be used to track down outside info that can be verified or confirmed. |

Hi
I am not sure what you are asking here. Is there something specific you are wanting to ask?
During hypnosis your mind can present things that are difficult by replacing them with a metaphor, which has the same emotional effect but is allowing you to be more detached from it, as in dreams and this could be seen as a false memory.
Under hypnosis you are more open to suggestion and ideas can be introduced that you cooperate with and that lead you to believing something that is untrue. You are more likely to believe it if you are in emotional pain and looking for answers that seem to match the intensity and drama of your pain. In reality the answers are more likely to be much more subtle. Don't misunderstand, there is abuse out there and it may need uncovering but in the therapy room there is only one person who knows and it is not the therapist so the uncovering will come when the client is close and comfortable enough to let go in their own time.
About 20 years ago (?) there was a particular school of hypnosis that believe that everyone with emotional issues had suffered sexual abuse in many extravagant forms. These therapists were taught to lead their client to the abuse and make them face it. Thankfully these practitioners are no longer around. at least I've not heard of anything recently. the outcome was that several parents were being sued for the alleged abuse and worse families were being torn apart.
I have had a client come to me telling me that a previous therapist told her she had been abused by her father when she was four - he counted backwards and asked her to raise her finger when he got to the age that 'it' happened. That left the client in a terrible mess as she couldn't quite believe it but was also questioning the verity of it as she did have emotional issues. She was not abused by the way.

| um to be more specific im asking about recalling the exact words of a conversation that iv had w/ a friend over the telephone, if that could be recalled accurately enough to be presented as evidence? if both of us are involved in the recalling procedure. |

| Nope, no way would a conversation recalled in hypnosis be able to be used as "evidence". The brain doesn't work that way, sorry :( |
