| How effective is a hypnotherapy? I want to try one, because I want to get rid of my fear of the dark, sometimes I'm afraid being in the dark even if I'm not alone. I visited this web site once which gave me an idea to try it out. |

Hey there,
It's very cool that you've been ready for change before. And you're ready for change now as well. In my experience, the effectiveness of hypnotherapy and the ease of change comes from the skill and experience of the hypnotist. Many hypnotists can make permanent change happen quite effortlessly. Also, there are many hypnotists that don't practice what they want to achieve. They can tell a client, "Feel very comfortable and confident" and that will have certain effectiveness depending on the relationship. The fact that change can happen without your awareness is an interesting factor. Sometimes hypnotists are reluctant to put their practice to work. And I always urge people practicing to put their skills to work fully. A person is capable of doing much more than what they consciously realize.
Other hypnotists give tasks. They say, "Go home today and really think about what I said." Or they say, "When you were little your mother left you at the classroom for the first time. You also had to meet new kids and teachers. You had to learn to drive a car for the first time as well. And there are even more behaviors which you can learn how resourceful you are with" Things like that.
But I really think it depends on the hypnotist. Really put your time in searching. And be sure to think about your decision. Let it come to you. You'll find the right person for you.
