Hi, I'm new here! I sure hope I'll get to learn a lot of awesome stuff about hypnosis while I'm here since it's a fascinating topic. I'm sure you all agree with me on this one!
Before I am here to ask you all a question, I want you all to know that I'm deaf. I've been deaf since birth. So that means no mp3, audio tapes, all that stuff.
I've done a lot of research on this. I googled a lot about it and I didn't find enough information about this topic. I must say I'm a little disappointed. I hoped to find a website full about self hypnosis for deaf people, but I didn't. I only found one page about visual inductions so yeah. http://www.professional-counselling.com/hypnosis-for-the-deaf.html That one..
So, I want to know if one or so of you knows enough about self hypnosis for deaf people, what and doesn't help. All the information, your knowledge would help me. I would really appreciate it! If deaf people are here, then great, you can tell me what works!!

I've only worked with one deaf person and one mostly deaf person.
I was lucky in that both of them were very good at reading lips so we did eyes-open induction, deepening, and session and they both went pretty well.

Oh, how did you do that with them while they read your lips? Explain in details? |

The mostly deaf person would probably have been classified as severe hearing loss and their hearing aid did not help much.
It is not necessary to have eyes closed to be hypnotized. It's just easier to have them closed so there are less distractions.
Doing the hypnosis is a little trickier with their eyes open, but worked fine as long as they kept their focus on my mouth - eye fixation induction.
I had to be sure I formed my words carefully and clearly.
I was a little limited on the techniques I used. Suggestion stuff was fine. But advanced techniques were a little a touch-and-go.

| Hm. So like if I have my eyes open, do I have to just stare at a thing or something so intently? I read this book about instant self hypnosis as you read or write, gooooood book. |

| Eye fixation is not completely reliable on it's own. When combined with verbal (or lip reading) instructions for other inductions it works better. |
