Posted - 11/19/2008 : 9:12:32 PM At times I have a hard time getting myself relaxed enough for self hypnosis. I sit in my chair, have head phones on, soft soothing background music. Turn the lights down low to dark... and I gaze at one spot on the wall until my eyes get good and tired and just close... Then I take myself through progressive relaxation from head to toe. Then I count down to deepen myself from 25 to 1... I see each number in my head, drawing them 1 at a time and erasing them one right after another. Then I start with talking to myself, talking about what I want to accomplish... One thing is a visual of me sitting in front a meal and eating very slow, putting my fork and spoon down between bites... So that is an idea how I do self hypnosis. Should I be doing positive suggestions? or os talking to yourself good enough to make changes? Frankly I don't see many changes working but really not sure. What do others do to get themselves into a hypnotic state?
Thanks

Posted - 08/20/2009 : 2:31:57 PM When I want to enter trance, I close my eyes and ask for the memory of one of the 3 deepest trance states I have achieved, at he count of 3 I will recall that memory and when I do I will return to that state. This works very well for me most of the time, I'd say 95% of the time! |

Posted - 08/20/2009 : 05:33:20 AM Have you ever thought of trying self hypnosis downloads in an attempt to put yourself into a relaxed state? I used to have problems with calming down and somone suggested the same thing to me and I have found that they are very helpful!

Posted - 11/20/2008 : 10:08:10 AM Ah, well that is different. BTW: certified hypnotist does not mean qualified hypnotist. :) But 86 pounds is good.
If you're running into difficulty, I'd recommend - possibly trying a new hypnotist and/or use some different inductions, deepeners, and techniques in your self-hypnosis.
You may have gotten to used to what you're doing?

Posted - 11/20/2008 : 05:23:31 AM Patrick,
Thank you for your response. Yes I have seen a certified hypnotist 3 times. Also had past life regression... and am newly certified myself. I believe my problem is my mind wanders so much that I often have to add 10 minutes to my own sessions. I have lost 86 pounds since I have first saw a hypnotist... so maybe I should of said it is successful and I am doing it correctly BUT... lately in the past 3 months it seems to be more of an effort. Actually since my Certification I think I may be reading more into this that I should. I am just looking for some ideas.
Thanks Steve |

Posted - 11/20/2008 : 12:21:30 AM If you're not seeing results with the self-hypnosis suggestions you are doing, you would probably benefit from seeing a qualified hypnotist. That would give your behaviors a jump start, then reinforce those changes with your self-hypnosis. |
