I don't have a script for you, but I have used these suggestions and techniques with a couple of compulsive gamblers. Listen to your client and just pick up on what they give you.
1. Devote time to other pastimes that the client enjoys doing.
2. The smoke, noise, and hustle of the casino is unappealing.
3. We always teach a deep breathing stress busting technique. We taught the technique and then suggested the client use it to "breathe through" any urge to visit a casino or buy a lottery ticket.And feel good, proud and comfortable doing it.
4. Visulize driving buy the casino (or skipping a lottery ticket purchase) feeling comfortable, proud and in control.
5. Visulize what can be purchased/invested with the savings.
6. I had one client that I used "parts" with. It turned out that the part preventing him from stopping was "thrill seeker".
7. Have him remember a winning session and reframe to view the distorted view.....(the pressure, the stress, the noise, smoke, realzing the negative odds of recapturing it......)
