Hey everyone,
I want to incorporate self hypnosis as a daily part of my self improvement process & I have been reading Adam Eason's, "The Secrets of Self-Hypnosis", but I am having trouble understanding a few things with his "process" for entering hypnosis and delivering your suggestions...
For example, his main self hypnosis process has 5 steps to it (A-E)
A - Access - you enter self hypnosis with 3 triggers; being in a safe place, having the intention, and then counting from 1 to 10 and entering hypnosis on a number between 6 and 10.
B - Being In Control - Getting in control of your mind & of self hypnosis session, pretty much just read yourself a dialogue about being in full control, only responding to intended suggestions, and being protected from random thought.
C - Continually Deepening - just deepening your state of mind by using something creative like walking deeper and deeper into the a forest or counting backwards from 100 feeling more and more relaxed, or concentrating on your breathing..
D - Delivering Your Suggestion - This is where you deliver your suggestions or programs that you had previously planned out.
and E - Exiting self hypnosis.
Both A & B I understand because it is pretty much just preparing yourself for hypnosis, even though in Step A, it says you are entering hypnosis between the numbers 6 and 10, you are still feeling exactly the same except you are focused on being "in hypnosis".
Then in step C, you are supposed to continually deepen your state of mind before delivering your suggestions to yourself. This is where I am a bit lost. How do you know when you are ready to repeat the suggestions to yourself? Can anybody explain in any better detail about how to know when to switch from deepening your state of mind to delivering your suggestions?
Then step D is self explanatory & so is E...
I am just having a problem with knowing when I am ready to deliver the suggestions.
Also, if you have any other suggestions or different ways of looking at this problem, please let me know, Thanks!
Regards, Adam

i think you might be deep enough when you experience yourself as accepting your suggestions. |

Hi Adam
You might find this easier to work with.
Step one. Take some time getting really relaxed, from the top of your head to the tips of your toes.
Step two, see, hear and feel your self doing what you what to achieve. I.e. being more confident, doing things to lose weight, being motivated etc, etc.
Step three, take your new behaviours, in to your imagined future, and make any adjustments that allow you to be your best. See, hear and feel, and act as if you was with your friend, relatives, works colleges, etc, etc, and make sure your new behaviours work well, with in these settings, making any and all adjustments as you go. Only keep what works for you. Step four. Allow your self get more relaxed, and practice doing your new ways of behaving, in different settings, seeing, hearing and feeling, just right, take your new behaviours into places where you might not normally, it’s only to practice, and play with some possibilities, and make any and all adjustment that work in the best ways for you.
Step five, take a few minutes to be quite, and in a short time you can, open your eyes and do what you need to be doing.
Hope you find this helpful.

THanks for your suggestions...
Matrixman, is your methods are interesting, but I still don't understand when to know when your more relaxed and ready.. is it when your mind is really focused and its not wandering all over the place? Also, is your methods a different form of the traditional self hypnosis or is it about the same thing?

Hi Adam
Yes my method is some what different, from classical self hypnosis, as it follows the way in which the brain encodes information.
Ok let’s see, if I can, show you what I mean.
“Just imagine, that you are holding a bright yellow lemon and it’s and it’s really, really juicy, now imagine the smell of the lemon, and as you can get a real sense of that just imagine that your about to take a big juicy bite out of the lemon†now 9 out 0f 10 after doing that little imagine game, seem to get a mouth full of saliva, so the way in witch I do hypnosis/self hypnosis encodes the way in which the brain works best. So it cuts out the need for over reparative suggestions, as the brain encodes information via the imagination many times faster, then mere suggestions alone.
Ok play with this, take 7 minutes to do this. And your brain will work the rest out for you.
1 for one minute, take a number of slow deep breathes until the minute is over.
2 for the next minute scan your body from the top of your head to the tip of your toes and pay attention to any tensions, in your body.
3 for the next minute find and relax any and all tensions in your body.
4 for the next minute allow you’re self to relax and soften even more.
5 for the next minute give your self all the suggestions you want and need.
6 for the next minute just be, in the state you are and allow your thoughts to do what the do.
7 for the last minute bring your self back into the room, feel good and that’s It self hypnosis.

Matrixman,
It seems just to easy to enter hypnosis ;) Its pretty much just relaxation and focus then huh? Then you just make believe what you really want as if it were real either through imagination or through "suggestions".. Is that about right? What about the ability to control pain for example? In Adam Eason's book he talks about a girl who used hypnosis to control the pain in her mouth when she was having her back teeth pulled out and she didnt feel a thing. It just doesnt seem to make sense the way you are explaining it. I'm not doubting you, I am just having trouble understanding.

Hi Adam
Having been playing with hypnosis for almost 15 years, I have for a number of years been looking and creating ways to simplify, the whole process. Like any skill, the more you do it the better you get, having read hundreds of books on hypnosis, thousands of articles, listened and watched to tens of thousands of hours of hypnosis based information, some of it really good, and some of it not so good.
Then one becomes, what some people class an authority, on the subject.
Now only way to get good with hypnosis, is to do it. And yes getting in to a trance in as easy as closing your eyes and changing your breathing rate.
There are ways in which our states of consciousness, can be measured, through an EGG/EKG what this does is maps out the brain, in a way that shows our brains electrical activity, so when we are wide awake we are at a beta level of consciousness and this runs at seems from 30 cps to 14 then we have alpha which runs from 14-7 cps them we have theta 7-4 cps and then we have delta which runs from 4-1 cycles per second. Now alpha is considered, a light trance and what happens as soon as you close your eyes, your enter alpha, so yes it’s very, very easy to go in to trance.
It does not matter one little bit, if you doubt, what you read here as when you get down to doing any trance work, you we see, hear and feel each of the steps that I have pointed out.
Now I don’t know, when it was that you learnt how to tie up your shoes, yet there was a time when it was, not so easy, and you have to be helped and shown a number of times, and then like magic, one day you did it all by your self, well when you apply the same learning strategies, to learning hypnosis, you will find it, not so complicated as you have been doing it in one form or another since your was born, and have done it many times a day, every day, since you was born, now I am very happy to answer questions, yet if you want to learn and use self hypnosis. Give your self 30 minutes or so, and sit down, and ever follow my suggestions, or the ones in the book.
If you go with the 1234567 process, yet adding five minutes per part, then you will have done a very classical 35 minutes of self hypnosis.
What I also suggest if the book you have is the only book you have on hypnosis, then get a least two others, then you have a choice, from three different peoples, unique point of view.
Learn well.

AdamM, Are you asking if there is a feeling or some other indicator that you're ready to recieve suggestions? |
