I was present at an event in 2000 during which I overheard a conversation that might have a direct bearing on an issue of great debate in the news currently, and I would like to recall exactly what I heard. However, I do recall that, about 20 years ago, while at seminar on hypnosis (trying to quit smoking), I was told after several failed attempts by the instructor to hypnotize me, that I was not a good candidate. What can I do? |

hello,
Go to some one with more skill. its not you that is not a good candidate, its the hypnotest who does not have enough, skill to use what has, at hand.
You have something that makes being put in to trance, and a deep one at that, sooooooo easy, yet you can just think about what that might be on a deeper level, and I m sure you have at some time, felt relaxed, as you think about them times, in you own ways, anyways will do, you don't even Have to go in to a trance, for changes to happen, they do so all on there own, all the really good suggestions, that you have ever been given, can stay with you, for the reast of you life, and all the others one the so so so ones, and you know what, and which they are can just, drop out of your mind, one by one, or all at the same time, its no so important, how change happens, eyt it does, in so many good ways, you can see, you self, as you would be in the ways, that work so well for you, and you can learn, well, in all the best ways that you know how to, so well. you can, remember, little bits of this or that, and if I ask your self in just the right ways, what else, do I remember, over a short time you will, remember more and more, if you remember a word, or two, when maybe you can remember, a smell, or a top some one was, waring, all little parts, of the TOTAOL memory, and its RECALL, now in just the right ways, for you.
if you want to conside, printing that out, and see just how many suggestions, that are helpful, it just might aid you, in being able go in to a trance, now you might do that so well, and right now, or in a little while, which is fine, yet as you have read it any way, then your in a deep trace if you know it or not, can you can change in anyways, that work, best for you.

If it has consciousness it's already in a trance. |

There are some people who resist hypnosis, about one in ten thousand, so the odds are you are not one of them, and Matrixman is correct. There are many so called hypnotists who have no clue or skill, so it is quite likely that you used the services of one of them rather than that you are not hypnotisable. There are other reasons why a person fails to enter the trance state, sometimes there is no raport, or circumstances are wrong for that person. I have had clients who failed at a stage demonstration, but were readily hypnotised in my office for example. I have has some who failed when a doctor attempted to hypnotise them, but went into instant trance with me. On the other hand, non of us is 100% so each has the odd failure even the best. Don't give up if your need exists. |

Both Matrixman and Anthony have it right. In more than fifty years of daily practice and teaching,I have had less than a dozen who failed to respond to reeducation about the nature of trance followed by several attempts to induce trance with a variety of methods. The primary cause of this difficulty is the false belief that there are GOOD subjects and BAD subjects. Hypnosis is a NATURAL STATE OF MIND; neither unnatural nor supernatural! Everyone has a NATURAL CAPACITY for developing a trance state! When the subject exhibits resistance, it is the obligation of the therapist to use his acquired knowledge, skill and experience to find the way to eliminate the resistance. The unskilled (or lazy) will take the low road and tell the subject, "you are not hypnotizable". Of course, they will still ask for a fee for the failed session! With Respect, Gil Boyne |
