hello evrybody,
i was wondering if anybody out there knows anything on hypnosis and its influence on dreamimg. Ever since a particular hypnotherapy session, i have have been left with the ability to have vivid dreams.
Its been 4 years since ive experience this strange ability, and i want any information on how i can stop it and have a good nights rest.
if anyone has had the same experience as me or can provide any information , i would appreciate it if you can get in contact

Was the "particular hypnotherapy session" focused on dreams? Was it with a professional in a session or Stage Hypnosis? Give us a little more info.
A lot of people use Hypnosis to help them remember their dreams more vividly as they “believe” there is some relevant information in them that they need. So I don't see where you would have any problems achieving the opposite with a skilled Hypnotherapist. |

The subject of dreams and hypnosis is a highly interesting topic, in which I am also very interested. I am currently studying toward my hypnotherapy certification, and we recently did a class on dreams.
As I understand it, dreams can indeed be influenced by hypnosis. You can hypnotically "program" yourself to dream specific dreams if you want (this is closely related to *lucid dreaming*, as well, for instance you can autosuggest before falling asleep that you will "go lucid" during your dream).
Presumably, an *undesirable* dream suggestion could also be implanted in your mind by someone else, though of course this could lead to ethical questions.
In addition, *dream therapy* can be a very useful adjunct to hypnotherapy, for "venting out" undesirable beliefs, thoughts, habits, etc. My instructor says that "dreams are the language of the subconscious mind."
I even heard a story about a person who had a fear or phobia for 40 years, which was eventually traced, not to an actual event, but to a *dream* they dreamt in their childhood.
So dreams and hypnosis can actually coincide in many different ways. |

ok...the hypnosis session that i had was not involved with stage hypnosis. There was no intention to have the ability to dream, there where no suggestions made and the qualified practioner doesnt know how it has occurred. The intention of the session was to be able to sleep better.
my dreams are not nightmares, just normal evryday dreams. i hate them. i just wish for a peace ful nights sleep. maybe my brain has gone against the suggestion 'deep sleep' and has now locked into light sleep (i do believe thats the stage where u dream)
i also believe that i have a subconcious barrier to getting hypnotised as i feel it has damaged me, therefore i wont be able to relax fully. ive tried to have numerous hypnotherapy sessions to revert it..but no joy.
im stuck...permanently in real world and dream world

| Your last sentence says it all I'm afraid, and you are right, you are indeed damaged. It is highly likely that the hypnotic suggestions given did indeed get acted upon, but not as intended. A good reason for knowing just how to word a suggestion to get the results required, not something different and unintended... |

| I have had the “hypnotherapy session” to get rid of bad dreams (worms!!!) - without any result. Only after I had solved the real problem my worms left me. But I think that this method is simply not for me. |
