You experience Hypnosis on a daily basis, and in many forms. Can it be used, you ask? Well that suggests one requires knowledge of what is called "Hypnosis" before benifiting from it. In a sense you are correct, but I would suggest one simple rule will get you all the results you want without any knowledge of how to hypnotise, or control in any sense. "Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you". Speak to others as you would want them to speak to you. Act in every way in such a manner that you are proud of your actions. In this manner, you will use hypnosis in the sense you ask that question, without any knowledge of induction techniques, or any need to learn anything. Terrye

knights answer above is fair, though maybe not a direct answer to the question. YES hypnotic principles can be employed to affect behaviour...though you'd be better off pursuing/reading about NLP...as opposed to hypnosis...this takes many (hypnotic) language patterns and applies them conversationally....ie...the meta model/milton model!
It...'NLP'....is already applied to a great many sectors of social interaction, and produces great results, though if you seek to exert CONTROL....forget it..!! NLP is all about how language affects neurology...hence its name...."neuro linguistic programming"!
You can produce motivational patterns easily once NLP has been learned....this is perhaps great in a work related context. Rapport building is a hypnotic/therapeutic principle which is the absolute KEY in conversational persuasion.
Build rapport skills within yourself.....and consider why and what it is that you'd like to be persuasive about.

Glad to note that someone else was awake today (G) Yes indeed, I had forgotten about NLP, though in my own defence, it is not an area I am very well versed in. However, it is certainly worth investigating for those who wish to relate to others in a friendly manner, to ensure that the other person is in the best mood to give the results required.....I guess that IS a polite way to say "controlling! However, my own use for NLP is only to find out if a client is visual, or tactile, so I can ask the right questions. To date, I have never used it for other purposes. Terrye.
