Hi there,
Just found this site. For the past two years I've been inflicted with not one but two supposedly life long conditions - genital herpes and genital warts - contracted within a couple of months of each other. They have played havoc with my relationships and brought me no end of unhappiness and shame. Just writing this is hard enough, but at least with the internet I have a degree of anonymity.
I've been trying to find a way to beat these diseases and I've done almost everything. Hypnosis is something that has always fascinated me, and I hope it holds the key to me being able to leave these problems behind and get on with my life. I guess self-hypnosis is really what I want to pursue, since I am a student and money is a factor, so a therapist is going to be out of my reach.
Has anyone else out there faced these problems with hypnosis, and if so have you had any success in controlling or eradicating the symptoms of these problems? How long did it take? What sort of techniques did you use, and what was most successful for you?
If anyone can answer my questions, or has any other advice for me, I'm open to it. Thank you all for your help.
Sam

To begin with, hypnosis is not magic, and is not a cure all for everything. Secondly, what you ask about is medical problems, and any ethical practitioner, ie, anyone who has any real skill, will not agree to work with a medical problem even if they thought they might be successfull. Thirdly, if a highly skilled practitioner is not able to accomplish what you ask, how do you feel about wasting your time trying self healing? You say you have tried everything, I suspect this to be untrue, since both problems are treatable. See you doctor |

Well Anthony, even though you "suspect this to be untrue, since both problems are treatable", I HAVE tried a multitude of treatments, with very little success. The medical fraternity offer a temporary solution for each of these conditions - freezing for warts and acyclovir for herpes - but neither does anything to control the virus itself, just the symptoms. So if, like me, you suffer from the symptoms on a regular basis (say, you get an outbreak once a month), normal medicine has very little to offer you. I have also tried naturopathy, homeopathy (which I'm still doing but it's been a year without any improvements - my practicioner, recommended to me by my doctor, assures me that skin disease takes a long time to deal with....), meditation (still doing this), Tai Chi (Doing it), affirmations (based on Louise L Hay's book "You Can Heal Your Life").....is this enough, Anthony, or do I need to do more things before you'll fel I've earnt your wisdom?
I've been reading a book entitled "Self-Hypnosis - The Complete Manual for health and self-change" by Dr Brian M Alman and Dr Peter Lambrou, which offers extensive case studies on treatments for medical problems not easily treatable by regular medicine - both my conditions, and many many more. They even offer an example of a gentleman who used self-hypnosis to successfully battle cancer. Being medical doctors, I'd say their ethics would be fairly solid, wouldn't you, Anthony? Maybe you need to contact them and let them know that "anyone with any real skill" wouldn't presume to allow people to use self-hypnosis to battle their skin problems?
Maybe I've made a mistake posting here. It took me a while to get up the courage to post about my very personal problems and to have some ill-informed big shot dismiss me with a few lines doesn't help me at all. Thanks for nothing, Anthony.

Hello Kiwisam, Well done on your answer to Anthony. Civility is always appropriate even when the issue is heated. I am in the work for fifty years and have permanently cured warts on numerous occasions. To the point; some years ago, a young man came to me and stated his problem. He was engaged to a young woman who was away at college in a distant state. She had been gone for the school semester and was returning home for the holidays. They had been sexually intimate previously and would be again on her return. His problem was he had been with other women and had developed veneral warts on his penis. His doctor had burned the warts with acid several times and each time the warts would grow back to their original length. He was panicked because his fiancee was due home in a month. I worked with him for five sessions and the warts disappeared forever. End of story! If you email me directly I will give you referrals in NZ. I held classes in Auckland on five separate occasions and have many wonderful friends throughout NZ. I circuled the globe five times and the friendliest people were the Irish and the Kiwis. With Respect, Gil Boyne I look forward to hearing from you. |

Hello,
Don't be so quick to think that a Hypnotherapist would not help you if you cannot afford them. I know of many professionals who work on a sliding scale with people who cannot afford sessions. Don't be afraid to contact people in your area of the world and ask them for help. Just tell them upfront of your financial issues and I think you may be surprised by the helpful responses.
You can use the large database / listings of Hypnotherapists on the front page of this web site to find people in your area of the world.
I think you will find that most people who are involved with this profession are like Gil and really enjoy helping people and the money part is really secondary.
Also, I know that in most cases these types of outbreaks can be caused by stress. If you find yourself continuously stressed out perhaps an audio program that targets relaxation may help. Let me know if you would like me to send you one - no charge, no problem.
Send me an email through my profile with your mailing address and what format (audio cassette, MP3 or CD-ROM) you need.

kiwisam, some very good advice above ! Many illnesses are psychosomatic. You will be amazed at what practitioners have cured with hypnosis. Stress will be good fuel for warts. I recently gave someone an audio program for warts as he has tried acid and had them burnt out, only to have them return again. The person was suffering from abnormally high levels of stress. |

Hello.
Ive also been suffering from chronic GHI and interested in self-hypnosis for surpressing the symptoms. Have you had or know of someone who's had success with this?

Hypnosis can help/cure many illnesses, diseases, and conditions. While self hypnosis can't hurt, the best results will be from a hypnotist face to face.
Yes many conditions are embarrassing, but visit a hypnotist, you'll find they are extremely professional and will not judge you.
Is it just a placebo effect? Who cares. Placebos have close to the same results on almost all conditions as the drug they are tested against. Very powerful indeed. |
