Hi,
I have a few questions for anyone who is willing to help. I am a 24 year old male who struggles with lying on what I feel is a compulsive basis and feelings of low self esteem and self worth. The mix of these two issues has formed a horrible combination that is destroying the relationship I have with my girlfriend of 6 years. She has expressed to me that she is no longer able to trust me or anything I say. I can't say that I blame her, I have been lying to everyone including myself since I was probably 11 or 12. The question I guess that I have for you right now is if you think hypnosis or self-hypnosis would be able to help me in my journey to find myself and the reason I act the way that I do...and most importantly help me stop this vicious circle I have trapped myself and the ones I love in. I know I there is no easy way out of my situation, but do you think one direction I should pursue is hypnosis?? Please reply...and feel free to e-mail me: (see profile)

Hypnosis does Not help ANYONE OR ANYTHING!!!
Qualified, well trained, experienced therapists
who use hypnotic trance as a primary therapy tool (to open a door into the deeper mind) can and do help with your kind of problem. They are usually called hypnotherapists. Gil Boyne

Ok...let me rephrase this then...
Do you think a hypnotherapist would be a beneficial option for me to pursue. I am new to all of this and I did not know if hypnotherepy worked better in some situations than it worked in others.

Your problem is one that an experienced hypnotherapist
deals with regularly. In my career, I have often worked with this problem with very good results. Avoid hypnotherapists who only use suggestion therapy. Be prepared for a minimum of eight sessions and perhaps more. Now is the time to became free of your self-hatred and
participate more freely in life. I wish you well.

I do have another question. Since I am very unfamiliar with the whole concept of hypnotherapy and the people who practice it, I would like to know if you have any suggestions as far as selecting a therapist. What should I look for? How do I know if a certain hypnotherapist is one I should avoid? Are there credentials I should look for in a therapist that are common among ones who treat this sort of thing? Any help would be appreciated.

Feel free to look over the main page of our web site to find out a lot of information about Hypnosis. You will also find a lot of conversation right here in the forum discussing registration and certification of Hypnotists.
Take the time to look around a bit before asking questions about areas of wide scope. In most cases I think you will find that each area has already been discussed, usually in some detail. To make this even easier there is a search function on the home page as well as in the forum itself. Do a keyword search and I think you will find an abundance of people asking the exact same questions.
Once you have looked over this information you may wish to return and ask any specific questions that you may have.
