Hi...I'm Mag and I help host a forum in Delphi. We focus mainly on self-injury but cover all topics from abuse issues to mental health disorders. We have had some members request information on hypnotherapy that deals with mental health problems. How it is done, are they putting themselves at more risk while under hypnosis, is it really helpful? etc... None of us have ever read much about it so the fear of the unknown is great...especially among the abuse survivors.
Can you help us find useful links or information that deal mainly with mental health disorders? I have spent hours searching and reading today but there is so much to look through on-line. HELP !!! Please.

Hi Mag, I have used hypnotherapy on a case where she was under psychiatric medication for six years & twice was admitted to mental hospital with multiple suicide attempts. She was brought to me by two friends of hers when she was told by her doctor that he cannot help her any more. After two visits & a weeks follow up over the phone and the use of a guided relaxation cd, she was able to get a job within two weeks and has not had a relaps for over six months now. The techinique I used was basically to help her build her self esteem starting with left brain approach then followed with right brain alpha relaxation with affirmations. During the sessions, she was asked to focus on what are the good atributes she believes that she has & to have a paradime shift of accepting that all life problems are windows of opportunities for learning and evolusion of our wisdom. Have also dealt with several unsuccessful suicide attemted cases in the same manner & have managed to turned these lost souls around. I have also used the similar technique on people who are deeply depressed with anxiety, & worries. This is not much but I hope it is of use for your research.

Mag, as I understand your post, you have no idea about how hypnosis works, and wish to understand if for purposes of your members? This being the case, and based on the knowledge that hypnosis has great value in many areas, I suggest you encourage your members to visit regularly, and ask questions they are interested in. You might also visit Accelerated Changes Technology, but typing "hypnosis.com" were you will find many very experienced members who will answer your questions. Sadly however this board is not monitored, and we do have our share of idiots, so in the event of member who might be hurt by silly comments. I suggest you do the qusestioning on their behalf.
