'Miracle baby' gets a university place!

BY rights, 'miracle' baby Paul Sutcliffe ought not to be here.
His mum June had already lost five babies during childbirth and he was delivered in an emergency operation after seven months of intensive hypnosis.
The 18-year-old Bispham lad lived his life through a lens as TV cameras descended on his home to film the first few days of Britain's miracle baby.
And now, nearly two decades on, Paul continues to amaze his family with a success against the greatest of odds.
Paul, who suffers from dyslexia, dyspraxia and dyscalculia, will be heading off to university a year ahead of schedule to study history and politics at Keele.
The Blackpool Sixth Form student gained three A-Levels in history, politics and general studies in just two years to stun his tutors.
Ann Lloyd, head of additional support at the college, said: "When Paul came here, he was very nervous and we were unsure whether we could satisfy his needs. The plan was for him to stay for three years to develop his skills and help him realise his potential.
"With dyscalculia, it is impossible to learn times tables, add up shopping bills and other things we may take for granted. So to achieve all this is in two years is amazing. He went to an open day at Keele thinking about going next year, not next week!"
Mum June, 55, spent seven months in hospital during the pregnancy undergoing daily hypnosis to prevent a further premature death during labour.
She said: "We had given up hope of ever conceiving again because the doctors said it was impossible. I had already lost five babies – one died just a few hours after birth, the others died during labour.
"So when I became pregnant with Paul, I was in hospital for seven months and having hypnosis everyday.
"I effectively died during the delivery because my heart stopped but fortunately we are both here today.
"He was called a miracle baby and he has amazed us again with his results. The best thing for me is Paul being able to achieve this in two years and I know it means everything to him."
Paul, who had to use a laptop and a set of notes in every lesson, said: "I wasn't even thinking about this year to be honest. I thought it would take me three years so I've shocked myself!"
Ann Lloyd added: "Paul was so committed during the two years and it was wonderful to see him blossom and mature."
