What kind of response is that, anthony? That is incredibly rude! Frank is obviously very concerned, and has every right to be. Drug abuse and drug addiction is very serious. Be a little more considerate next time! |

On the subject of cannabis, it's as well to investigate the terms "abuse" and "addiction" and secifically how they apply to this plant before jumping to conclusions. The facts that we have receptors for cannabinoids and that no lethal dose has ever been found for cannabis' active ingredients would suggest that this is a far safer drug than, say, alcohol. Indeed, some anecdotal evidence suggests that cannabis may even induce a mild trance state. Certainly, the subconscious is capable of "bubbling up" astonishing flashes of insight and the subject is far more suggestable while stoned.
Having said that, excessive smoking - to the detrement of other areas of life - is a problem for some younger people out for thrills, though a long-term interest in cannabis and its legal status leads me to believe that we should do better in banning tobacco and raising the drinking age. (Ever hear of a late night brawl between groups of dope smokers? No, of course not.)
My personal view is that if the subject can find what parts of the high (relaxation, euphoria, insight, positivity, etc.) they'd like to replicate on trigger it might serve as a very motivated starting point for an extremely successful suggestion. As with all pleasures, though, having times between experiences just makes them all the more special.

My response was NOT rude, it was common sense, if you understood hypnosis. Frank has little skill in this area, and could easily do more harm that good, while canabis though a drug, is relatively harmless in comparison to the harm Frank might do without knowing. Playing with someone's mind is not something to be encouraged, and if you think I was rude, you have no conception of the harm awaiting the unwary who play with this powerful tool we call hypnosis...Advice I offer is often driven by the person asking the question, and how they do it. Sometimes I find someone who seems to be sensible or knowledgeable to cope with good advice, and other times I find someone who indicates a desire to do things beyond their apparent skills. In the case of the latter, I suggest leaving well alone for valid reasons, not rudeness. Anthony.... |

How can you guys say that cannibus is harmless? It can cause cancer just as much, possibly even more than tobacco. Plus what long term smoking can do to the brain. Cannibus is very harmful. I've seen first hand what it can do to people. Since Frank isn't skilled, how about instead of telling him to ignore the problem, you connect him to resourses or skilled people to help him. |

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stop doing this!
Please stop using words like "possibly" and "very harmful" in what are just your assertions! No one believes the horror stories, not the general population nor the millions who use this plant safely. I have written several articles on cannabis (I'm a freelance writer) and having interviewed people from lying prohibitionists to rudderless legalisers, the only people who have a handle on this are the researchers who have actually done science on the damned stuff. The cancer story is incorrect and includes people who smoke it with tobacco. Cannabis doesn't irritate the lungs nearly as much as tobacco, and it doesn't contain radioactive particulates (a source of a great many lung cancers in tobacco smokers since fast-decaying isotopes are sprayed as insecticides in the US on tobacco crops). Besides, if you cook with it, where's the cancer argument then?
It's not whiter than white. Nothing is. Excessive use leads to lethargy and paranoia due to its overwhelming tranquilising effect and the effect of long term use on the amygdala. these effcts are avoided wiht common sense practices, the same as hangovers are avoided. Chronic use is a problem of the addictive component of the individual's mind, not of a drug used safely by tens of millions daily, just like alcohol or asprin. This is fact.
Arguments like "very harmful", causing cancer and hints at long term smoking and brain function cut no ice any more and destroy the rapport you'd need to convince anyone of what you're wrongly assuming is the truth about cannabis.
