I have a question...
When you are sitting there tapping a pen on your desk and your mind starts to daydream, which part of your mind is doing what ? Is it your subconcious mind that is having the thoughts while your concious mind is tapping the pen in perfect rhythm ? Or is it the other way round ? I have heard it mentioned before that going into a trance is similar to when your're driving down the highway and you are thinking about something (daydreaming) so much that you miss your turnoff yet you are still able to drive the car safely. Which part of the mind is daydreaming and which is doing the driving ?
In hypnosis, which part of the mind is doing what ? Is the concisous mind sleeping and the subconcious listening ? Or what is going on exactly ? Thanks. |

Krypton, I have a question for you in reply to yours. If I were to give you a direct answer to your questions, what would it benifit you? Does the pen start drumming before you enter the trance state, or after? since you don't say, and probably don't know, how is it possible for me to answer you? What part of the mind is driving? Again, are you a beginner driver, or an experienced one? If a beginner the concious mind is operating, but if an experienced one, the subconcious is functioning for you....
Understand, the mind is something so complicated that nobody fully understands it, and terms we use are intended to help in understanding, and are not carved in stone. |

| How can you breathe, think, walk, and talk at the same time? Is it unlikely that the brain can do two things unconciously at the same time? |

Of course once tapping the pencil, the subconscious mind can take over doing it automatically while you are daydreaming. On the other hand, when you are consciously aware that you are tapping the pencil how can you be focused on your daydream? you are obviously shiftingboth your conscious and subconscious activity and control back and forth depending on which activity you are focusing on more |
