I have been reading alot of books on the subject but I can't seem to sit still long enough to do it.I just want to get rid of my overreacting and I have panic attacks when I am in any social situation.I was told I have Agoraphobia.I have no backbone,everyone walks all over me, especially family and I have no friends.I trust no one.I think they are all out to get me.I have a good job so I buy my husband and kids whatever they want even if the bills have to wait.And I'd like to stop smoking.I just want to be a better person.I don't think I can even remember how to have fun.I am only comfortable when I'm alone.But then I never get half the things done that I wanted to.I even put off any phone calls and let the answering machine get all my calls and I act like I'm not home so I don't have to answere the door.Sorry,I went on and on.
Do you think self-hypnosis will help? |

..Maybe you need to actually stop reading and DO something about it..if you have no access to hypnosis, try meditation it is always helpfull...Reading about something and not practice is like being the spoon....is in the soup but does not know how it taste like..You need to learn who you are, and comprehend why you feel that way toward things. And of course never be affraid, you need to accept yourself, the rest of the people you know will...if they have not done it already..since they are with you...

try to make a list of all your own needs,also what you yourself want from life,maybe try a hobby with others involved instead of the go it alone type of hobby,oh and enjoy yourself and be a little selfish !!!!

| I am surprised and disappointed that no one seems to recognize this person's need for professional help! Agoraphobia is a very serious phobic disorder that can completely destroy one's quality of life. This person seems to be depressed, apathetic, filled with despair and self-hatred and all that is offered here is vague advice, and reassurance. Harm occurs when when well meaning but ill-informed people treat serious problems as if they can be easily overcome with a few words. Let's think about our personal responsibility to desperate people cluching at straws offered by self-appointed experts in mental health. Gil Boyne |

Who told you this? Was it a therapist?
Here are the main questions:
Are you under a Doctor's care for this condition?
Are you taking medication?
If yes, check with your Doctor to see if he/she recommends Hypnosis as part of your treatment. If so, they will most likely also have someone they can refer you to.

| It's unfortunate that people post on a board, and claim they have a particullar desease, when in fact this has not been confirmed by a medical expert....It is also unfortunate that anyone can offer suggestions, regarless of their skill set.... However, we are stuck with a question as to if self hypnosis will be of help, and I would reply that it will NOT. The reason for this is the attitude of the poster, not the benifits that MIGHT result from the study and application of self help........To study SH would take valuable time and considerable effort, which I doubt the poster is inclined to give. Secondly, visiting someone already trained, not only saves time, but in the eyes of the client, someone expert in the subject, who can offer instant help.If the poster is under medical care for this problem, a refferal from the doctor will be required before any ethical practitioner will agree to help. If not under care, reffering to having a medical problem will turn off the good practitioner, who will reffer the prospect to a medical doctor. Nuf said..... |
