| my husband is going to go get hypnotised, he's hoping it will help him to quit drinking and some other things he likes to do but has problems with (not legal but not hard drugs) does anyone have any experience with this? We're willing to try anything at this point! |

In almost every case, if the person is going to the Hypnosis sessions because they want help then the sessions will help. If they are going because a family member demands it or just to "make a show" of the fact that they are trying to stop the problem, then in most cases the result will not help.
Since all Hypnosis is Self-Hypnosis then if the Self is not ready to make the changes, then it just won't. Many people often use this as an excuse and it often has the opposite effect to reaffirm their dependency as in, "I tried everything, including Hypnosis and I just can't quit." This can just give them more positive verbal justification to continue on their negative addictive ways.
Many Hypnotherapists will not take on alcohol (and drug) cases for this reason and for the fact that, in most all sessions, the client is under the influence at the time which makes it very hard to get anywhere. Many Hypnotists as a rule will not take on any client who is taking drugs from a doctor’s care or under some existing program for the addiction.
Alternately, if this is the person's idea to try Hypnosis (on their own with no demands from family members) then they may be ready to make the journey and Hypnosis is certainly a great and positive way for them to help themselves. Be prepared for the possible cost factor though, as most Hypnotherapists charge more for these addictive sessions, since they must spend a lot more time with the client over many sessions to truly be effective.
