I have been trying to work on some of my problems with different hypnotherapists. The problem is when I am under hypnosis I do not see anything. Everything is pitch black, no progress, no feelings, nothing. Some kind of block. I tried regression therapy, that is what I've been trying to work on. When it happened during my first session ever, I have thought there must have been something wrong with the hypnotherapist. May be not experiences enough. Tried others - the same problem. So, I guess, the problem is me. I do not know what to do. So frustrated. Any ideas? Any suggestions?  |

| 3 sessions with the first one, 2 sessions with the second one, one session with the third one, tried NLP, no real results :-( Tried years of regular therapy with a psychologist, no results either. I have memory problems. No black outs for hours or days, just that I do not remember most of my childhood or past in general (for example have problems remebering my vacayion 2 years ago). Does not seem that there was any kind of classical abuse in the past. Everything is fine with my brain from the physiological point of view (had MRIs and tests done). I know the problem is psychological in nature. I tried regression into childhood as well as regression into past life. |

Any Rx meds for depression, anxiety, pain?
When regression work did not go anywhere, did they attempt any sort of parts dialogue?
My wife does not "see" things while in hypnosis. Some people do not. But my wife does gets results when working with problems.
There has got to be an angle that will work for you, just need to troubleshoot your past experiences and find what will work. |

No meds at all. What do you mean by "parts dialogue"? I know that not everyone can "see" things, some people feel, hear, or sense. I had nothing. Just frustration after each session that nothing is there, emptyness and darkness. I could remember details about my old house when I was young, very few though, so I know hypnosis works in general. But anything connected with feelings, events - blackness.
Memory problems are still there. I am trying to find out what I can do in this situation.

Were you taken to feelings at any point? For example requesting you to recall an event in which you felt extremely excited...happy..and allow you time to recreate the event before moving you then to recalling an event that made you very sad...etc. It sounds as though you are having difficulty with identifying feelings...with allowing you to go to your 1st recollection it puts no pressure on you to "identify" anything that may be scarey. When you recalled your old house did you sit down in a chair or at a table or lie down in your bed...perform any connection with you and the house.
Parts dialogue is having you talk to the "parts" of you. We all have multiple parts in ourselves...have you ever said to yourself...a part of me sure would like to go for that ice cream...but darned I'm soooo full.

To tell the truth, during the session I've been thinking that may be I am not hypnotised. I felt like I wasn't, my rational thoughts were active, but after the session was done I realized I was. After all, I could remember some things, very few, usually connected with material world.

Unfortunately, I don't know much about other techniques to distinquish them as something separate. I know that we tried different things as far as imagining myself in a safe place, releaving me of negative feelings and sensations, something with the third eye. I can't remember all of them. Also Reiki. I do not know if there is something else that I could ask to try.

Yes. I was. Worked to some extend. I remember feeling sad, remember myself being young and crying, but I couldn't tell why I was sad, why I was crying. Can't remember/see/feel reasoning of my emotions or what event caused them.

I remember myself as a little girl, walking into my childhood house, seeing every detail about things around me. How the table looked, where the shoes were, even remeber my dress. But that is it. Everytime we tried to move to any event, any person I communicated with, any emotion connected with the house at that time - black.

I don't think I've tried that. Defenitely something to consider. I would like to go back and try hypnosis again, but I am wondering if there's some "homework" I can do so it will be easier and help the hypnosis work.
I do experience some dreams that I think about my past life. Also, some specific music from a specific time evokes feelings of nostaligia in me even though I've never heard that music before. But it feels that it's that kind of music you listen when you grow up, may be your parents play it on the radio all the time, and then later in life, if you hear it again, it brings nostaligia. I ssume there is something out there, a past life, just don't know how to access it.

Your hypnotists job is to get you to appropriate depth... but.... not enough depth/too much conscious interference will be a deal-breaker for age regression work.
aboutchange's question about being taken to feelings at any point is very valid. You had a portion of a memory w/o context to work from... sort of points toward inadequate depth.
The black, as you are describing it, might be "blocking"... blocking the emotions.. which again points toward a depth, or client education issue. Both of those are the hypnotists job.
If there is an emotional block - your mind blocking strong emotions - the hypnotists job is to help you break through it.
You are asking good questions and will make some progress on this issue if you continue as you are. The more educated you are on this subject, the more discerning you can be when choosing the hypnotist to help you through this.
A parts dialogue is helpful if a person has trouble visualizing, or trouble getting to memories. From what you are describing, your memories are there and just need to be further explored. |
