Hey everybody, I just registered here.
I never knew how powerful hypnosis was until I saw a hypnotherapist for extreme social anxiety a while back.
It makes perfect sense to me now. My whole life, I've felt like: "It's all in my head. If I'm my worst enemy, I can muster up the will power to defeat this on my own."
Never did I take into consideration, that there was a subconscious part of my brain that I had little to no impact on.
I knew that things I did were wrong, and I was even embarrassed to talk about my phobias and anxiety in front of people, because I KNEW it was silly, but I still couldn't get over it. I thought to myself: "How can I know what's right, and what's wrong, and still behave as if I have no control?"
Hypnosis is very powerful, and has impacted me more than medication, and psychological therapy combined. You can blame yourself all you want, and think you're weak, and just need to "talk it out", or "toughen up", or "try a new medication". But in reality, none of those things will ever, ever impact that subconscious part of your brain that is the root cause.
I lost all of my friends, dropped out of 3 schools, was kicked out of my house once by my own mother when I was 18, contacted by courts for truancy, and made some VERY bad choices. I tried speaking with a psychologist, about why I made poor decisions with my life, and he tried helping, but it only got worse, and I even lied to him, telling him he was helping - just because I wanted to avoid everything as much as possible. I tried two different medications, and had thoughts of suicide.
The funny part was, when I was asked: "What are you thinking, when you make these decisions? Why do you make such poor ones? What's going through your head?"
Well, to be honest, what's going through my head is how wrong it is. How I know I shouldn't. How I wish I wasn't, and wondering why I was anyway.
It's because there is a different, hidden part of your brain that is telling you to do them anyway! It's your subconscience! No longer do I feel stupid, or crazy, like I have no reason to do the things I do. Like I'm just a bad person who does the wrong thing just for the hell of it. Like I'm too weak to be able to control anything in my life.
Hypnotherapy taught me that, and has helped me in life greatly. I would really encourage people to do it! And I'm looking forward to reading other success stories from everybody. |

You're bang on with that. You're absolutely right about the subconscious. It is all powerful and will guide you to and attract to you whatever conditions and circumstances are represented by the conscious thoughts that are impressed on it. So the conscious mind is very important too, if you're always consciously thinking negatively about yourself the subconscious takes its cue from that and creates corresponding conditions in the reality of your life.
Hypnosis/self hypnosis is an effective way of training the conscious mind to consistently send positive thoughts to the subconscious. Simple but true. |

I could not agree with you more and I'm always glad to hear how hypnosis has worked for others since it basically saved my life. My name is Kristin Rivas and I am a hypnotist currently practicing in Seattle, WA. I came from a very conservative background and did not consider hypnosis to ever be a form of therapy to try until I had exhausted almost all others. I was at the end of my rope after being diagnosed with PTSD and having psycho-somatic seizures multiple times daily that forced me to wear a helmet, use a wheel chair, and basically become confined to a baby proof home for nearly 2 years. I finally saw a hypnotherapist and after just 1 session, I have not only been symptom free, but have become a healthier person in general. I am more assertive, confident, and independent.
