I encountered this regression problem with my girlfriend. Here is the situation:
My girlfriend has a unknown fear when she sleeps alone. I did emotional-regression technique (asking her to focus on her fear then go back to the first time she ever felt this fear). Then she regressed back (or at least I thought so). But she could not talk! She could not speak at all. Its like her sound was trapped in her throat. Then I tried to use counting technique to clear her throat, to clear her memory (i.e. I said, on the count of three, your throat will be clear, and you will be able to talk) but none worked.
Then I asked her if she understands what I was saying, she nodded. She could generally answer me by indicating, yes, no, i dont know, or I wont tell you (I told her to answer my questions in one of the four ways by raising different finger).
So far what I can get is that, she probably regressed back to the womb, because I asked her whether she was surrendered by water, and she indicated yes. Also, she indicated that she could not talk, she did not understand language, but she can understand what I was saying.
And I regressed her back this state several times. Every time this happened. Today, she regressed to this state spontaneously!
So I really dont know what happened there. And every time I emerge her, she had absolutely no memory of that state, even after I gave her suggestions to remember all the feelings.
Anyone has any idea what state was that? Or anyone has any idea how to communicate with her in that state?

The throat getting tight usually means they are not expressing what they see/feel.
There can be different reasons for this that are addressed in the session.
But, one reason for this to happen is when the client does not WANT to tell the hypnotist what is up.
The first thing to do in this situation is NOT work with your girlfriend (or friend, or family member) on an issue like this. It is NOT in their best interest.
Asking her "Are you surrounded by water" is a leading question and those should never be asked. |

Thank you Patrick. I thought the same about the leading question. So i was unsure of what happened.
I think you are right about the throat getting tight. Because now I recall that she indicated a lot "i won't tell you" to many of my questions though irrelevant to her fear, but I guess it's her general attitude on that matter.

| It should still be possible to allow her to relive the experience in her own mind in order to fade the negative emotions out of the memory. Perhaps after a bit of the charge is gone from that she will be more communicative and be able to open up more about it for you. If not, she can still relive the experience until it has no charge at all left to bind her and neither of you needs to know what happened so long as the issue is resolved. |
