Hypnosis was helping me with some issues that I had and I made a lot of progress. Then I was assaulted and the person who assaulted me gave me a concussion. Afterward my speech & writing was impaired for a few days and I spent a week in bed with a huge goose egg on my forehead. When I healed I went back to all my old bad habits. It was like everything was undone as though I had never been hypnotized. Now, a year later, I started retracing my steps to bring myself back to the point that I was at before the assault. But all I seem to do is fall asleep. Can anyone please give a little insight or advice? |

I can make some educated guesses... but will lack accuracy w/o more detail...
"Bad habits" are often coping mechanisms... something perceived to make a person feel "better", in relation to however they perceive themselves to feel prior to that moment - generally a bad or negative feeling.
So, the "bad habit" is not necessarily the problem. It may just be a symptom of the problem.
Something I call a "negative motivator", in that it is the negative feeling that is motivating the bad habit behavior.
An emotional trauma, such as assault and physical injury, would be something that could exacerbate a negative motivator and re-establish a behavior or "bad habit".
The bad feeling is the thing to focus on with your self-hypnosis work. I've seen people get very tired and start to fall asleep when we get close to significant issues in a session. That may be what's up... but, more likely, I wonder if you're using an induction that is too long.. like progressive relaxation. Using that at the end of a long day is likely to put someone to sleep. Try something quicker, like an Elman. |
