As I have many questions coming up constantly while learning I would like to open a personal hypnosis question thread to post my questions now and then.
1) According to Kein the critical factor comes in at around the age of 7. Does everything that anybody says to a child go directly into the subconscious mind of the child or only the actions/commands of the parents?
2) Who has had success with Gerald Keins "Learning self-hypnosis in one session" course? Any advice? Tell me about your experience. I have tried it once but I couldnt concentrate probably, I will try it again soon.
3) After I have learnt self-hypnosis I would like to go in trance just by tapping my finger. Does it make any sense to do that during an exam at university when I would lke to recall something that I have learnt the days before?
4) Are there any products here where pain control is specifically taught? I saw that Kein had a little part on it in his basic hypnosis course. I would appreciate any information on pain control with hypnosis
In Gerald Kein "Instant Inductions in a clinical practice" he tells the subject to just open her eyes and she is still in trance and has anestesia. When he says "on the count of three, open your eyes, FULLY alert, feeling great...1, 2, 3" the person is out of hynosis and the anestesia should be gone right? Gerald Kein does that in order to show that people can be in somnambulsim with their eyes open.
The thing is, I listen to a self hypnosis tape and the command came "open your eyes, fully alert" I opened my eyes, my eyes were really fully alert, but my hands still felt like they are not part of my body. I looked down on them and I felt like my hands are still not part of my body. As soon as I consciously move my hands with effort the hands feel "normal" again.
5) Shouldnt the body be out of hypnosis with "fully alert" or is it just the post hypnotic phase of 30 seconds why I still have that feeling in my hands? Nevertheless I felt like my hands would stay in that relaxed state far longer than just 30 seconds.
6) How can I properly differentiate between "open your eyes" (the person is still in somnambulism) and "fully alert, eyes open, feeling wonderful,..."? Is it just the wording?
Thanks so far! Looking forward to interesting discussions. |

1. critical 'faculty' will start being an issue from roughly 7 - 10 years old, depending on the child and the mental (behavioral AND physiological) maturity level. "Everything" would be a generality. They are MUCH more likely to believe what they are told unless what they are told runs counter to previously established beliefs. Any "authority figure" (parents, relatives, super hero, famous athlete, whatever).
2. I have a lot of Kein's hypno ed stuff. Not done his self-hypno course. I teach self-hypno to my clients in a portion of one session. Doing it on your own will be possible, but not as reliable as with a good hypnotist.
3. Yes. Learn a finger tap or finger pinch self-induction. Practice it thoroughly. Then start practicing it with eyes open. Good for school stuff and sports.
4. Pain control is both a simple, and involved thing to learn. No single hypno pain mgmt technique is going to work for everyone. I would recommend getting that training face-to-face with a qualified hypnotist.
his video should say "results will vary". not everyone responds the same. With practice, you should be able to get the response you're looking for.
5. I tend to see that in people newer to hypnosis... and with higher stress.. they relax and the muscles get the first thorough relaxation they may have had for some time and they don't want to wake up. but... everyone is different.
6. Change the wording... like "let your eyes open slowly while keeping your relaxation"... or create a different anchor for this step.
The person on the video is probably not experiencing this process for the first time. And if she is, and did not respond in the desired way, they wouldn't be selling the video. Right?
Don't compare your results directly with a video. allow yourself room for variations... room to be creative and use your own style/words/etc.. |

Thank you very much, I see a lot more clearly now. Patrick you are the first person that is answering my questions in a structured way :D
I will definitely go and see a hypnotherapist for learning the stuff. What I still would like to know:
1) What benefits do I have with entering self-hypnosis just by tapping my finger. I want to use it for improving my results at university. So when I am having an exam and I cannot recall what I have learnt (most of the time we have to learn lots of things by heart), is there any benefit by I entering the subconscious mind? Or shall I already do self-hypnosis while learning the stuff at home.
2)Some hypnotherapists say that Hypnosis CDs are "the lies of hypnosis". They say it is impossible to go into somnambulism with them. So what state am I in?
3)Can pain-control be applied to all parts of the body or just the part you worked on in the office? |

You're welcome.
1. a finger tap is a great technique because it works quickly, minimum effort. It is also unobtrusive so the peeps around you won't wonder what's going on. Do the finger tap prior to studying, then again when you want to recall what you studied.
2. A person CAN enter somnambulism. But, they won't always be aware if they do or not. A person can not test depth on themselves with reliability... and it's going to be unreliable in achieving that depth with the random person.
3. With practice, yes, all parts. |
