I fall asleep during self hypnosis session when I am not supposed to. I do wake up at the end but do not hear the last 10- 15 minutes of my session. Is it still working? Or am I just too tired at the time of session. I did not think I was tired at all. Have you folks any feedback for me. Much thanks for listening |

Results will be unreliable when a person sleeps. They may get some while they are falling asleep but... it's inconsistent and unreliable.
Find, or make, a shorter audio. |

I was very comfortable in a recliner. Would it be better to sit in a straight back chair. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you |

Are you sure you're falling asleep during the session? I was told something a while ago that I'm not sure if it's true but through experience I believe the statement: if you are hypnotized, you cannot fall asleep. Hypnosis and sleep are two different states and you have to be emerged from one to go into the other.
About two months ago I would listen to recordings and thought that I had reached hypnosis but 10 minutes after the recordings started, I would have no recollection of the session and I would be waking up. Now that I've been in hypnosis quite a few times and I know what the state feels like, it's impossible for me to fall asleep during a session.
My awareness is usually solely focused on the voice of whoever is guiding me and if I do drift off, I am aware that my conscious mind has gone somewhere else. Time distortion is something that is very common when I’m in hypnosis. Thirty minute sessions often feel like only 5 minutes. Whereas when I would fall asleep, I still had proper perception of time. |

Doing relaxation sessions with people at the end of their work day - they can fall asleep. I watch to make sure that doesn't happen.
Some people do/will slip into sleep from hypno if they're not watching.
Hypjunkie knows what it feels like and has intentions of NOT falling asleep, and so, wouldn't fall asleep.. I'm the same way.
Sitting upright in a chair would quite likely help you remain awake. :) |

Several options, one is to be comfortable, but not TOO comfortable. You might try sitting on the floor leaning up against the wall. Also set you intention before you start that you will NOT fall asleep. One more thing, try it in the morning when you are well rested, and once you enter into hypnosis, offer a suggestion to yourself that you will be able to enter hypnosis and NOT fall asleep. |

Hypnosis and sleep are not the same, however we go to the same brainwave states in both hypnosis and sleep, so they are similar. One major difference is that when asleep we are unconscious while in hypnosis we are aware of what is going on around us.
I believe that it is possible to drift off asleep when you are in hypnosis. If someone were to hypnotize you and leave the room, which I would never do, you would either get bored in a couple of minutes and open your eyes or drift off to sleep. I have noticed clients drifting off to sleep from time to time while in the hypnotic state. I usually confirm this by asking them to take a deep breath, if they don't then chances are they are asleep. |

Personally, I prefer my clients to be as comfortable as possible when being hypnotized, so for me, and I stress this is my personal opinion, an upright chair probably isn't the answer. The reason you are falling asleep is because you are tired, not because you are comfortable. Try to find a time when you are not tired to go into hypnosis to avoid falling asleep.
If the induction used is one of a long relaxation, it can be very very difficult to stop yourself, or indeed your client, from falling asleep--it's natural to want to sleep if you are tired. Unfortunately, our subconscious can only focus on one thing at a time, so if it is dreaming, it can't be listening to hypnotic suggestions, and when we sleep... we dream! Don't give up on your current recording, just try to find a better time to listen to it.

I think that quite early in the audio, you should give the suggestion, "I stay focused on my voice, and my concentration is completely on the positive messages that I hear." That will keep you from falling asleep. The suggestion about doing a session when you are not so tired is also excellent. |

Naturally during hypnosis or getting your mind into a hypnotic state your body and mind becomes relaxed as it should. But to help from drifting off, I would definitely do it sitting up and in a chair with good posture. It also helps to concentrate your mind on what you are hearing. |
