is it possible to go into somnambulism in self hypnosis? i imagine it would be very hard. my induction is rather simple, i don't think it would take me down to somnambulism, but who knows.
my induction in self hypnosis is first
-clench muscle while breathing in then let go and breathe out. do this with every muscle you can 5x
- take 5 deep breathes
- starting from 300 count down to 0 .. saying i am more relaxed after each number
- try not to move at all
i wonder if that can get me to somnambulism? |

Yes a person can be taught to go into somnambulism with self-hypnosis quite easily.
That sounds like a progressive relaxation method which would tend to not work as reliably from person to person. If that induction - using kinesthetic and numbers - works for you, than maybe it will be fine. |

You might try adding in a little confusion to your counting, which you can do by counting down by 3's instead of by 1's. You could add in a few other techniques, like fractionlization, on the count of 3 eyes will open, then when you say sleep now (out loud or to yourself) your eyes will close down and you will double the level of relaxation you were feeling before.
Also I have found it very effective to use stairs or an escalator for deepening. Imagine you are on an escalator going down to basement level 1, and count slowly from 20 to 1 untill you reach basement level 1. From there just continue to level 2, 3, 4 and as far as you'd like to go.
It sounds to me like you are making it into a trance state, you just need some additional deepening. Of course there are those who will tell you that trance depth does not matter, you might ask Gil about that some time, I am not going there!
BTW, to answer your question, yes it is possible to go into somnambulism using self hypnosis! |

This looks like something I need to try on myself. I'm currently in the process of learning self hypnosis and making hypnosis recordings for myself (using direct drive to increase my motivation on a particular subject) and I would like to achieve deeper levels of trance.
More so with my self hypnosis because the hypnotherapist I am currently seeing has given me an unreliable method for self hypnosis (counting back from 50 and erasing each number). |
