For my entire life I have been very back-and-forth with almost everything. I get into zones for about 3 months (sometimes less but almost never more) where I have a one track mind. During that time I learn a ton about a subject, then, I lose motivation for it very quickly and move on to something else.
When I was younger (I'm 23 now) it was just kind of a quirk. Now it is becoming a problem. I recently decided that I would start a small business in automotive detailing. Now I don't really feel like it anymore. I haven't started the business so it's not that big of a deal yet, it's just causing me frustration and I'm worried that no matter what I do for the rest of my life that I will never be able to keep my motivation for more than a few months.
Clearly these are things that I enjoy doing because my motivation is recurring, almost seasonal. Basically I am wondering whether hypnosis can keep these dips from happening and whether it can help me maintain my enthusiasm. When I lose it, it is crippling and pretty much nothing I do or say can get me off of whatever I'm currently into.
A side note, I was diagnosed bipolar several years ago (18/19?) and an not currently medicated. I'm feeling slightly depressed, but I don't think it has anything to do my problem because whether I am medicated or not, I have the exact same yo-yo problem. Sorry for the absurdly long post, but thanks in advance for any help. |

I'd bet the bipolar symptoms affect you more than you think... Rx meds can help reduce the amount of the extremes.
I've worked with a fair number of people diagnosed with bipolar. Analytical hypnosis techniques have helped them reduce the extremes too.
That there is a behavioral component to the "motivational issues", that hypnosis can help with, is quite possible. But, I'd want to make sure the known issue is not causing it before looking for known issues.
