So I downloaded some hypnosis mp3s from a website one dealing with self confidence the other with stage frigt, and I decided to listen to the one on self confidence first. Now, before I bought them, I was extremely hesitant and nervous about doing hypnosis. They had some free ones on youtube that I would listen to but I got so nervous that I couldnt benefit from it. I mean, the point of the recording was to relax, and that wasnt working lol. But I decided to give the free recordings a try just to get comfortable before I paid for those other ones, and to see if I could be hypnotise.
A little about me is that I dealt with a few issues regarding confidence and anxiety, tried praying and stuff but it wasnt really working so I wanted to give hypnosis a try. This is all leading up to my question and its this. The first time I listened to the self confidence hypnosis I was laying down in my bed. I couldnt really relax, I was tossing and turning to much so I think I can confidently say it didnt work. So the next time, I decided to try it sitting up in my bed. I still cant say it worked, but then again I dont really exactly know how to tell if it did.
My question is however, when I listened to it sitting up, when the guy started counting down and he told me to count in my mind backwards from 300, I began to feel like my whole body was spinning. Like I was on some kind of ride or something. It was pretty cool, but it kinda freaked me out a bit. I can say that this was probably the first time that I think it did what it was supposed to as I was much more relaxed during it and at the end of it. But the whole spinning thing had me a little worried and I remember grabbing on to the rail beside me.
This happend maybe 2 weeks ago when I first started listening to it. And I can say that it did work, I felt much better a few days after I listened to it, and I still feel pretty good and like its getting better. Its just that now when I listen to the recordings, I no longer feel like Im spinning. I still feel relaxed and stuff, but I was wondering if the spinning I felt was part of it, and if I dont feel it, will it not work? Thats my question. Sorry for the long post, but as you can tell by my name, Im kinda new to this. Thanks for reading and any input will be appreciated. |

Spinning is fun but not necessary for improvement. |

So it will still work? I'm assuming it would, but is the spinning thing natural for hypnosis? The last few times I listened to the recording I didnt feel it. And a couple of times before that, I felt it alittle bit, but not a lot. When it first happened it was cool, but at the same time freaky, I had to grab onto my bedrail. But is or was the spinning normal for hypnosis. Like what other sensations have you felt while in hypnosis? |

I get clients that experience spinning, or rocking while increasing depth. It often appears to be associated with people that are afraid of 'letting go', control issues, and/or just an apprehension of being hypnotized. In the later case the sense of movement goes away in subsequent sessions. In the people with fear/behaviors, the behaviors often have to be addressed before the sense of movement subsides. Sense of movement is not a sign of depth. Just a little sense of 'losing control'... which of course is not the case, just the perception. |

Oh ok, that makes sense. Yes, I was definately nervous about doing hypnosis, so I think thats why I felt the spinning. I no longer feel that way when I listen to the recordings. It would get lighter and lighter each time until it went away completely. I still dont know if the recordings are working, or doing there full purpose, but Im gonna stick with it and see what happens. This is going on my 3rd week I think, so Ill see what happens. Either way, thanks for the help. |
