I hope this is the right place to post a question like this (new guy here:)). Last night a friend, also a beginning hypnotherapist, and I did some work together, trading places as hypnotist and client. Though I have studied hypnosis off and on for 15 years, the bulk of my experience has been in research and self-hypnosis. So the two of us were excited to be able to work with/practce on another person!
I thought many things went well, but at one point during his turn "in the chair," he fell asleep and completely stopped responding. I was uncertain what to do, so I gently redirected my language to move his hand or to open his eyes. That took an unexpectedly long time, and I was just glad he was a friend and not a paying client. After awhile, he woke...with a little help...and he seemed to remember nothing.
I'm hoping someone with much more experience "in the field" could shed some light on what might be done in this situation.
Thanks, and Happy New Year.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Try looking over this thread:
http://hypnosisonline.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=914
You may find more information on this by doing a search (link is on the top right side of every page in the forum) for fall asleep, sleep or induction.
The best bet is to ask your questions within an existing thread rather than start the conversation all over again. Most people who have been a part of one of those other conversations will usually not respond to a "new post" of a covered subject.
Hope this helps.
[Most likley this post will be deleted at some point.] |

HypnoDoc,
Thanks for taking the time to respond to my question. I took your advice and read through the thread at the link you posted. I also spent about 20 more minutes searching for similar threads on this site, as I did before I originally posted.
To be honest I didn't find that any of those threads answered the question I asked. I normally consider, before asking my first question on a forum, the possibility of that topic having already been discussed ad nauseum, which is why I do a cursory search initially.
I failed to find an answer in any of the discussion(s) here after 30 minutes of searching. At that point I consider that posting my question is usually my only choice.
I am open to any other suggestions you can provide as to how I might go about persuading someone to provide their opinion to help guide me in making better decisions as I pursue growth in this endeavor.
Thanks again!

Hello again,
I understand. Best bet is to post your question under one of those other existing threads about the subject. That way you can further one of those discussions to include an even more in-depth review. The idea is to try to keep some form of organization within the forum so that topics are somewhat contained within their own threads.
Thanks for getting back to me and for your understanding.
