Hi, i've got a bit of dilemma going on.. whether i lack self esteem or self confidence?
- I like myself.
- I really really want to be popular and liked by lots of people
- I can't ask for assistant in stores because i'm too scared.
- i think im generally ok at my job
- i feel sad and think something is wrong with me when people don't talk to me or want to get to know me more.
So.. what do you think? lack of confidence or self esteem!

Please don't take the following as an evaluation.... I'm just using what you've posted and added what I hope is perspective.
"I like myself" v.s. "I feel sad and think something is wrong with me"
- You can feel more than one way about yourself. And, more typically, you can "feel" bad as well as "know" you should feel OK. (conscious v.s. subconscious)
Wanting to be liked would probably be a normal thing, until wanting to be liked gets in the way of "normal" life.
- A desire to be liked can be driven or increased by the fear (dread, threat, anticipation, whatever) of not being liked.. which would show itself in being scared to ask for help in a store. (what will (or do) they think of me?)
You can debate using the word confidence or esteem, but it still comes down to an inaccurate "belief of self". Yeah?
