hi everyone.

i'm new to this so please bear with me

i've been suffering from nighmares (among other things ) for a very long while. to be honest i've probably always had them but didn't think much of it when i was young... some night are fine as i can't remember the dreams or they not very intense, but most nights i have really vivid dreams that wake me up... Sometimes i actually sleep withthe light on - i'm 28!!! and a bit old for this really .

apart from this once the sun is gone i get very frighten with absolutely no reason, tho i keep telling myself that it doesn't help. if i'm alone in the house i jump at every sound and i'm very aware of what's happeing around me (if this makes any sense).

i'm very stressed during the day and always rushing even when there's no need. i getting all confused - i don't know if my days are so stressfull coz i dream so bad or my dreams aree so bad coz i'm so stressed during the day...

anyway, i've benn thinking for a while that maybe i should try hypnotherapy tho i know nothing of it hence why i'm here...

i've read a post earlier that hypnotherapy shouldn't be used by people suffering from depression and i may have a mild form of it. i'm very pessimistic so maybe it's more that than depression - i'm all confused now:)

i would really appreciate some thouhgts on this if pos.

Hi Lolly

What can happen/and from reading your post you have a very simple case of day-to-night looping this is where you have not created a switch off point- from work day ending to home time beginning- this is just a guess- so don't take my word for it- Hypnotherapy would help a lot- yet before you go looking for a practitioner- would you be willing to play with a few idea? that might save you a some cash and give you some relief?

if you say yes then here goes-

At the end of the day at work, if you work in a office - sit at your desk- and run through your whole day backwards from where you are in that time all the way through to you woke in the morning- see, hear and feel your whole day running backwards, then take a minute or two to have a really good stretch- and say to your self in a very confident calm voice "I QUIT" then go home- and enjoy that time- when its bed time- do the same thing that you did at work- run your whole day backwards- then think of 1 or 2 very pleasant- experiences from your life- and remember them in detail- once you start to feel the good feelings- say to you self in a very confident calm voice sweet dreams- and take these good feeling with you as you fall asleep- on waking up- take a little time to remember 1 or 2 nice real life experiences and say in a very calm confident voice to yourself start the day- give this a go for 10 days- and see what happens-

thank you for your reply.

i'm willing to try almost:) anything as i've had enough of this really :). i will certainly give it a try - the only slight problem is that i've got so much to deal with in teh day to day life that i don't really have much time for myself in the eve, there's always something to do, call someone, resolve something:(. but as i said, i'll def try and see if i can get any results out of it.

i've also ordered dave elman's book online, just to get a better idea of hyphotherapy is all about... (it was recommended in one of the threads and not cheap).

i don't really want to go and pay a practitioner immediately as i want to get a bit more knowledge and maybe more important to understands what are the risks if any...

Hi Lolly

Well if you can give yourself 2-3 minutes just after reading this- take a few deep breathes- and run your day backwards from where you are now in time to when you woke up- then repeat the same thing again in a few hours time- and do the process 5-7 times throughout the day and making sure one of them times is just before you go to bed- what the process does is it closes any open associations that you have created in the day- and as you are in effect giving your day a series of mental recaps- then you will notice a number of other benefits- and you might even notice a new level of relaxation- with in a few hours of doing this-

well, i slept fine last night but to behonest i was very tired...
i'll do it again today and tomorrow and so on... tell yoda i'm going to do it :)

hiya,

i couldn't access the site for whatever reason...

i've followed your advice and must say it seems to be working. as i said, my life is hectic at the moment, been very busy so i'm not sure if i'm just exhausted at the end of the night and drop in bed.

dave elman's book arrived yesterday but i haven't managed to get past the introduction:).

i'll keep at it tho :)
