Gidday Mates,
I am writing for the first time in a long time.
I have degrees in Hypnosis but this is my first foray into self Hypnosis. I was wondering where I am going wrong here and if someone could help.
Basically I have a tape recording with commands on it like read a written script and a few deepeners and I listen to it before I put myself into a deep trance for a fair time, however nothing else happens.
What am I doing wrong?

| What are you trying to achieve/change in your self-hypnosis? What suggestions are you using to focus your mind? I assume you want more than just relaxation. |

You need to relax your mind.
Sometimes we keep on thinking about one thing or another. And in such situation, we cannot go into a trance.
So if this is your case, then you just need to calm down and just focus on the tape or CD that you are listening. |

What you might be doing wrong is you already know what you are going to say. It is like that saying, "a chiropractor cannot adjust themselves." You might do better with a subliminal recording.
And you might also be forcing the change instead of allowing the change. And you might not be neutral with the words used. For example if I do not love myself, I cannot say, "I love and accept myself." You will reject that suggestion. But if I say, "I am learning to accept myself more and more. I am more patient with myself. I am more forgiving and understanding...." Then you are moving in the right direction. Soon you will be able to like yourself and eventually love all parts of you. |

| Thank you Kerie. Very good advice on allowing the change to happen as opposed to forcing change and phrasing the suggestions correctly using neutral words. |
