Posted - 02/13/2007 : 8:38:41 PM I recently read a book that suggested that deepening somnabulistic state can be achieved by bringing a person in and out of trance repetitively. Which I have seen many times with stage hypnotist. Can I believe this theory to hold true? |

Posted - 02/13/2007 : 10:42:58 PM sorry thought I did...I think I was just reading down the wrong forum topic. From past forum boards that I have been a member of, they usually discourage what they call "necro posting". I will work harder to ensure the topic hasnt been covered. |

Posted - 02/13/2007 : 10:12:00 PM Do a search in the forum (use the search link at the top of every page) for "deepen" or "depth of trace." You will find that this, like many other questions, are already under discussion. Rather than starting a new post and beginning the conversation all over again - why not read the others first and then add your post at the end of one of the most appropriate threads. This will keep the conversation and posts all under one relevant thread.
This would be a good thing to do prior to placing any post on any subject in the HOL forum. In most cases, it will be rare to find a question that has not already been asked. Most likely it has already been answered too and is still under discussion. Should your question be a new one (we certainly welcome those) then I am sure everyone who is actively taking part in the existing conversation will be happy to see it in the correct thread and forum.

Posted - 02/13/2007 : 9:20:34 PM Hi The technical term is called fractionation, and it’s more of a process then a theory. As it works, as it is based on the process of repetition, meaning it will habituate and become streamlined the more it is done.
If you think about one particular really good feeling, and press you finger and thumb together, you create a stimulus response to the good feeling, which creates a neurological pathway in the brain, also known as a memory, fractionation allow you to create a pathway or memory of the hypnotic state, over and over again in a very short time, which then lead to the hypnotic process habituating, which means it become automatic, for that given time and event.
It does not matter if you believe it or not, as you can member that good memory from just a little while ago, it still there and make you feel good when you think about it.
