I am a graduate student in clinical psychology with an interest in hypnosis, but I have found it impossible to locate any scholarly sources on any modern iterations of the speed induction (which, it seems to me, would be very useful for crisis reponse etc.) |

Posted - 08/08/2008 : 11:05:20 AM I've read a lot about Gil Boyne on this forum. Are his books available on Amazon, or do they have to be purchased directly from another website? |

Posted - 08/08/2008 : 10:16:15 AM There are good books on instant and rapid inductions as well as the 'therapeutic' aspects of hypnosis. To start with -
Dave Elman "Hypnotherapy" is a good one. The "Elman Induction" is the foundation for the most reliable rapid inductions.
Gil Boyne "Transforming Hypnotherapy" Goes further into processes.

Posted - 08/07/2008 : 11:12:01 PM Excellent advice! I appreciate the quick and well thought out responses. I'll check out youtube and see what I can learn. Unfortunately, the University where I study and practice does not have any faculty who are interested in hypnosis as a clinicians tool, so most of what I have learned are from books (my favorite are definitely Hypnosis in the Relief of Pain by Hilgard, and A Clinical Hypnosis Primer by Pratt, Wood, and Alman). It doesn't seem, however, that there are any journal publications that include information on instant or rapid induction techniques? |

I assume you're referring to "instant inductions". Gerald Kein does a good job of teaching these with his instruction DVD's - www.omnihypnosis.com "Rapid inductions" are also effective.
For crisis response, the 'victim' would essentially be in a hypnotized state - strong emotion - and very suggestible. I have used this myself when I was the first person to a car accident. As you probably know, among other things, it is helpful to get and keep their full visual and mental focus.

Posted - 08/07/2008 : 10:14:31 PM Hi Lord
If you go to you tube.com you will find a host of people giving demonstrations of speed inductions, do a search on you tube- for "Keys to the mind" and you will see A very cool young fella by the name of Nathan Thomas- giving a host of demo's maybe worth checking out.
