I am new to hypnosis and am currently learning on my own through books and correspondence with professionals (don't worry, I am not attempting to perform any actual hypnotherapy without the supervision of a professional). One of my main interests with regards to hypnosis is pain control and anesthesia. There is a really great book out there by Hilgard and Hilgard called "Hypnosis in the Relief of Pain" which reviews the literature (up to the point where the book was written, it may be a little dated now) and includes the Stanford Hypnotic Scale in the back in an appendix. A true classic! |
