Posted - 06/21/2006 : 3:42:45 PM Concerning many explanations regarding the trance state it has been stated that one is more intelligent and better able to perform while in a trance and in fact hypnotists enter a trance before inducing their clients into a hypnotic trance.
The dictionary defines trance as an altered state of conciousness coupled with a narrowed focusing of attention.
I have used the Betty Erickson technique and I enter a small trance when I concentrate on all the sounds around me (a little variation of the technique but I believe it works.)
My problem is when I am in the trance state how do I keep it while I go about and do other things. I want to stay in trance lets say when I negotiate in business or when I program or any activity. My concentration is lost once I stop concentrating on all the sounds around me. Is there anyway to stay in trance after you stop concentrating on one thing?

anchoring is a great way to get into a trance very quickly. But you have to make it stronger over time as you repeat setting it up. After you've set it up test it.
I've seen this on a seminar I took a couple of years ago... in one exercise, the lecturer anchored the trance state of a participant and he did it so well that he could literally drop that person into trance with a specific hand movement. It was awesome.
Try anchoring, it works.

You already have the answers to what you need to do, yet before, I point you, to finding your own answers, I assume you know what an anchor is? Second and this is the key to your answer, can you think of a time when you felt really good about something? Now as you think about this something, lets say the deepest trance you have ever been in, how would that look, feel and sound to you and as you think about that, there in lays your answer.
Or to make it more obvious, anchor your self into the state you want to be in.
And you do that by mental rehearsal.
