hi. I am trying to learn self hypnosis by myself. I read 3-4 books about it. I am reading texts and articles from internet. I am also trying from a self hypnosis learning set. I have started 1 month ago. I seriously tried but didn't get much results, except simple ones.
I guess the problem is I still can't get in a good hypnotic, suggestionable state.
I read that it can take 1-2 days to several weeks to get results from self hypnosis. What do you think? |

Hello Kahkahna, It appears that the most common belief is that if you read a script, you will enter a trance and you can program suggestions to deal with personal issues, conflicts and problems. Yes, you can learn to enter a trance and develop relaxation with a cassette tape or cd but creating a response to your own suggestions is another matter. There are several reasons for this.
1} Most people do not have enough belief in their own efforts
for their suggestions to be effective. When they go to a hypnotherapist to learn self-hypnosis they project the authority onto
him/her because of the hypnotist's supposed skill` and title.
2} The hypnotherapist can train the client by repeated reinduction of trance and suggestions for future response.
3} The rationale of hypnosis is that as the conscious (intellectual}mind recedes, the subconscious {emotional} mind is accessible
and responsive to incoming ideas. The structuring and delivery of
these ideas{conscious mind} is inhibited by the development of trance. I suggest that you seek out an experienced hypnotist before you are discouraged by failed attempts. It is an investment that will pay a lifetime of dividends. With Respect, Gil Boyne |
