Posted - 10/21/2004 : 4:45:39 PM I recently read a post that said someone should give self hypnosis plenty of time to work.
I have very recently became interested in hypnosis. I know very little on the subject, but am reading everything I can. I have tried the most basic of what I have read...quite place, complete relaxation..slow mental countdown. Then I made several suggestions (all on the same subject) I am not sure if I was in a light trance or not. After the first time I noticed a difference. Could this even be possible? The second time I had a lapse of time of about 10 min. or so. I have only tried 3 times all together. Have I just convinced myself it worked? Or did it? Or is that the whole point anyway? (convince yourself it worked and...IT WORKED! ) I would like any advice on how to continue and what your opinion is on the time frame of my response.

Posted - 12/08/2004 : 1:39:12 PM Hello, After fifty years of practice and thousands of clients,I can answer your question with some authority.Every client I saw, no matter what the presenting issues were, was required to learn self-hypnosis. Each time I hypnotized a client, I repeated a process of instruction and suggestion to increase their self-hypnosis skill. This is the very best way to learn. In addition, I gave each client a small book on self-hypnosis and a hypnotic cassette with instruction to read the book (between the first and second sessions)and stated that we would discuss specific chapters in the book during the following session. The client was told to play the tape each day for 21 days and then every other day for the next thirty days. I never had an out-and-out failure. The only variant is the length of time involved and the level of response achieved. I have witnessed some truly astonishing results,-- pain relief (including terminal cancer)and incredible cures of chronic and acute conditions.I have sold many thousands of tapes and books to buyers who could not see a hypnotherapist and I have many, many letters that tell of wonderful results from diligent use of the book and tape. My final advice is; search out an experienced hypnotherapist (beg or borrow the money) if this is not possible, then, use the book and tape as prescribed above. The book is Self-Hypnosis by Charles Tebbetts the tape is titled #103 Self-Hypnosis by Gil Boyne. Available at westwoodpublishingco.com
Good Luck on your quest. With Respect, Gil Boyne |

Posted - 12/08/2004 : 06:00:46 AM Hi Ms.C,
We've all been clueless about Hypnosis when we just started getting interested about it.
On my site you can find plenty of articles about practical Hypnosis, and we just started a free online course - Hypnosis for Beginners. No registration required, just read.
Good luck to you, and Happy Holidays Everyone!

Posted - 10/22/2004 : 4:53:17 PM There is no requirement of time, for some it is instant, and for others it takes time to accept any change. You would advance in knowledge much more quickly if you had help from a professional rather than learning from a book, but eventually you will be fine if you persist in both study and practise. You will know if you have been successful when you see results, that is the only way to be sure you are not fooling youself... Anthony.... |
