Hi,
I'm new here, and new to self hypnosis. I'm curious if while in a hypnotic state if I can use inner self talk as opposed to a voice recording?

I speak three languages, English (native language), French, and German. I find that these three languages have a different feel to them, a different personality if you will. I find I have an easier time talking about very emotional problems in a language other than my native one. It somehow gives me the feeling of distance, almost like I'm talking about another person. I also find that French has a very creative feel to it while German has an organized feel. For this reason, I use French in hypnosis if I'm seeking a creative answer to a writing project. |

Hi AH,
I'm bilingual and yes they have different effects. I think the native language is best for accessing deeper issues, and getting to the root. This is just my opinion, and for self hypnosis tapes, I'd lean toward native language. That being said, I've worked with clients that hypnosis is their 2nd language and it still works fine.

Have been trying with new method of interrupt pattern . every time I observe myself in -ve self talk I immediately use a tongue twister

Just wondering are there any bi lingual people here and what language do they use in recording Self Hypnosis scripts to listen to. I am curious if listening to Self Hypnosis in different languages will have different effect. |

I have to slightly disagree, I am no qualified hypnotherapist but I do have a lot of experience with self hypnosis.
The above post is indeed correct, but how deep do you really need to go?
As we all know, all hypnosis is self hypnosis when you use a tape you are relying on something else to take you deeper, whereas when you use self talk you get used to taking yourself deeper. You realise that you can't just tell yourself to go deeper but you actually have to do it as well.
I recommend using both. |

Inner self talk will tend to cause "conscious interference", which will reduce your depth of trance, which reduces the affect of the process. |
