Since nobody else want to start this forum, I'll step in with one that really gave me pleasure. This occurred so many years ago, that it would be impossible to trace the person involved, but I won't use names anyway.
It's a Friday evening, and the phone rings. The voice at the other end is obviously that of a well educated, articulate, and very young women. She asks for an appointment, and when I ask if she can tell me a little about the reason, she says she would be more comfortable telling me face to face, a good start in my opinion. I then ask how she heard of me, since I never advertised when in practise, so all persons I saw were there by personal recommendation of a client. The reply was, she had had a call from her cousin who had been at a lecture I had give to the Hypnosis Society members and guests the previous Wednesday evening.
The appointment made for the following Monday, I was interested to find out what such a person was having a problem with. On Monday evening, she arrived exactly on time, was a very well spoken young lady, and a pleasure to converse with. She told me exactly what the problem was, an inablilty to make friends, or even converse with those she worked with, a very expensive apartment which she felt unable to share costs on because of her feelings of being a pharia (my term not hers).... She was also able to tell me WHY this problem existed since prior to the incident she had been a very outgoing person. Her final question was, "can you help me?" my cousin says that if anyone can it is you........That final remark put a great deal of stress on me, she was the same age as my younger son, and as a father of four, I knew that I had no choice but to help. To cut a long story short, she was a model client, and delightful to work with, and after four sessions, in spite of not having time to plan any sort of personal aproach, she was free of all her problems, and able to relate once again to others in a positive manner. To put the cherry on the cake so to speak, I asked her if she felt good enough to attend a party of strangers as the date of my younger son so that nobody would know that she had been a client, and she agreed. At the party, she mixed well, had a very enjoyable evening, and in the process met a couple just a little older, who invited her to visit with them, and were delighted to make such a nice new friend.
I had rather hoped that my son might find her delightful also, and date her, but this didn't happen, he was too busy with male friends at the time, but he did marry a delightful girl later, so that's just fine. I didn't hear from her after that, but did get a call from the cousin, who told me she was fine, and still working in the City.
Now I know others have just as delightful stories to tell, so perhaps I have broken the ice, and others will now contribute to this section of the forum. Terry |
